I never had any problems with glasspacks, just ripped off the turbo (turd) tube and welded a glasspack in the bird a few weeks back no problems. The major complaint is with farts, if you dont put a good amount of pipe behind the glasspack it will pop when you let off the gas at a high rpm.
I used to run dual glasspacks with side exits, i used to have really bad pops when i let off the gas. as soon as i put in bosch platnium plugs the poping stopped and the car had a lot more top end power over the AC delco's i always used to run. I use to a lot of compliments on how good it sounded, but the cops hated it, and that was the best part of it
I like glass packs, but they wont give you any more power than a cat-back, just a different sound.

I put 'packs on my 79 Z28 350 and it is a pretty unique sound. I got the bolt on kind and bought headers too so I had the whole dual exhaust system for like $150 or so. I had a flow catback before and it was ok but not for the money. The packs make it sound like you're shooting fireballs out the pipes but too me it's pretty good sounding. Not many people have them like flows. They still reside under my Z28 now.

I like my glasspacks. I have them mounted right under the bumper, and I have never had any problems with any "popping" sounds. They have a nice rumbly kinda sound, until I stomp on it...then they scream!
The only downside is that it intimidates the local r!cer$....none of them want to play...

as long as you have the straight through UNLOUVER type glasspacks then your fine
but a lot of them that I have seen have these little baffle like things in them that slowdown the exhuast flow on the car
straight through mufflers are all going to sound about the same though unless you add louvers to them

iv heard glaspacks are more constrictive and rob potential power. not sure how true that is but in my oppinion a cat-back system sounds better or even on a tight budget a flowmaster muffler sounds pretty good.

I had glasspacks on a 350 powered truck last year. Sounded like sh*t and never got any better....It sounded better with straights then with glasspack...Plus it takes power. If spend ten more bucks ($31) you can get a Dynomax Bullet race muffler, thats whats on mine...Sounds nice, no glasspack sound....Best muffler on the market IMO

Glasspacks are usually necked down inside to get some sound control & are restrictive.
