How's the interior noise on a Flowmaster?

Been considering a flowmaster 80 as a top choice for my Camaro. Mainly because it seems to be the best performer.

But how's the interior noise on these things, I don't want it to be too loud on the inside. Just enough so i can enjoy the classic V8 sound. It's my daily driver, so i don't want it to be annoying.

What's the best performing muffler i can get? For more horsies and torqe that is.

The Flowmaster 80 series aren't loud at all inside the car, especially because of the location. For the most power gain, I would go with Flowmaster's 50 series American Thunder cat-back system. It just came out.

'88 IROC TPI 355, fully balanced, 9.75:1 compression, fully ported '70 truck heads(for now), Harland Sharp Roller Rockers, Comp Cams TPI cam, fully ported '90 speed density TPI with '86 base so it fits older style heads, Crane AFPR, Flowmaster 3in. exhaust, Edelbrock TES headers, all emissions equipment is still intact, plan on burning my own chips, many more mods and parts on the way as time and money permits =(
Best E.T. with TBI 305: 16.11 @ 82mph
Haven't been to track with new motor
Won bracket races at Numidia Raceway with my '70 Nova
In memory of Dale Earnhardt, I'll miss cheering for that black #3 on raceday!!!

It depends on what engine, and how modded it is. The more power, the more sound ext. and int.

I read that the 50 series is quieter. Is it any less powerful? And is DeltaFlow a good option?

mostafa3k,

I have the newer style dual 3inch American Thunder cat-back system. It is designed to be a more "aggresive" system. It's really pretty quiet in the car. Actually, I wish it was a bit louder. While cruising you can hardly hear the exhaust. Under full throttle, you will get the v-8 growl you are looking for. I very much doubt it will be too loud for you, go for it!!!

I have an 80 series flowmaster with megs tips. My motor is an lg4. I can't hear it hardly at all inside, but out back it sounds great. I imagine with a higher performance motor or without a cat it would be much louder inside and out. The 80 series are similar to the 40 series, but since the 80 series use the crossflow design, as the guy at flowmaster told me, they are a little more quiet than the 40 series.

Is there any difference in the hp-pickup between the 50-deltaflow and the 80 series?

I recently got my flowmaster 80 series installed about a month ago and it is not loud inside at all...the only time you can really hear it is when you floor the gas and when you have no radio blasting....the flowmaster is the best for what you are looking for....i have heard rumors that it gets louder but thats a different post.

yep same here 80 series 3" catback (with gutted cat) at cruising u cant hear it but when you step on it people turn heads... its on my stock 305 tbi daily driver and i love it. I too have heard when it breaks in it gets more low-growly sounding from a person whos had it before, he says it loses alot of its tinny sound (WHAT TINNY SOUND?) that it had when you first put it on. i told him i hope it gets louder and loses the tinny sound (i hear no "tinny" sound...) since it has no tinny sound it should sound even better!!!!!!
