a gutted cat makes it a lot louder. Well you have to take it off first...it should jsut be bolted on although it took me forever to get it off becuase it was stuck, you jsut have to work at it and twist it. then I jsut used a rod, and a long screw driver. It takes forever to gut it and its a nasty job too. IT will be worth it though.

if you gut your cat, wear a dust mask, dont breath the crap that comes out of there

if you gut your cat with flowmaster, there is a possiblity that it will get the hollow tinney sound

Like 86 Trans Am said, be careful when you do it. There is platinum inside that cats and when you grind on that metal, a dust will come up. So be VERY careful. Use safety equipment.

Why gut them- I just gave the guy a 12r of Bud light and a $20 and he took them out and repiped where the cats were. I think its the way to go- It Sounds bad *** with my flowmasters ( not tiny at all ).

When I gutted my cat all I did was:
1) Unbolt the exhaust from the rear of the cat back (basically the thing you just hooked up) and let it just hang
2)Use some sort of pipe or pole (i used my floor jack pump handle...all i could find in the garage) and ram it into the cat to start breaking the material inside.
3) Crank the car up a few seconds to blow out the pieces you broke up.
4)Repeat step 2 and 3 until the cat is total free of the material inside. BE SURE TO GET IT ALL OUT, IT WILL CLOG EXHAUST IF NOT.

Hope this helps!

if you need to have a cat there so a cop can see it you should put a pipe through your cat. otherwise it will sound funky. like having another muffler.
