Edelbrock has a nice tone when you get on it, sometimes I wish was louder, but I'll probably put headers on anyway. This may sound stupid, but put on a open element cleaner and when you step on it both will make a great racy sound. I took my old over the axle pipe/muffler off with a little help from a friend and put the new one on, all under 3 hours. the Edelbrock 3 inch goes on so easy, although i did have to rig (add washers and a longer bolt to my hanger).

You want to attract attention

Try putting a single Dynomax Race Magnum Bullet on there. Its straight thru, sounds nothing like a Flowmaster, and will make the most power. Its similar to a glasspack.

Or you could always run duals like a hillbilly

My edelbrock was actually pretty quiet until i put the headers on in front of it. Now i can't even have a conversation in the car while cruising

Unless you have lots of engine in front of it, the Edelbrock catback is real quiet even with their headers installed. Someone I know on the board has the catback and their headers and he regrets paying all that money only to get a very stock sounding exhaust with little power gain. If I were you I would go with eighter a SLP, RandomTech, or Hooker Areochamber catback. My personal favorite is the Hooker. It sounds sooo nice, its loud but not obnoxcious, comes with dual 3in chrome tips, and costs less than a Flowmaster catback. Oh yeah, throw a set of SLP headers alone with the Hooker catback and your car will turn a bunch of heads while you cruise by.................

Edelbrock - sweet.

Not obnoxious when you don't want it to be, turns heads when you do.

The edelbrock you WON'T be able to hear just cruising. I have edelbrock headers and 3" catback. I plan to remove both my cats and just replace with a piece of piping.

That person he is talking about is me. Yea his car sounds cool, but I gutted the cat on my 88 RS and it sounded SOOOOO damn pretty. The reason I didn't experience any gain might be because I kept the ORIGINAL cats (all rusted). Also edelbrock doesnt send in a y pipe either. My gain was significant, I think I have to tune her up to gain some more hp. I will be taking off emisions and ac soon and that should really help me out in the hp category. Edelbrock is really quite at idle (w/cat(s)) but at WOT i think it sounds nice. Its got a mild to loud sound. When I had gutted my cats, it sounded twice as loud. Hooker is nice or flowmaster but u dont like the sound of flowmaster. You would be pleased with the removal of your cats and your 3" piping...i'm just waiting for my next check...or my credit card to come in the mail.

BTW, I went to just tires and got tons of compliments from people, not to mention the exhaust shop i took it too. Its okay, dont put on any pipes and people think you are "bone stock". Hehe, that's always so much fun for me..

By that do you mean the cat back by itself of the whole system with headers? If your talking about just the catback i agree, but if your not, i'd be more than willing to send you sound clips of my car cruising at about 65 mph. I just gotta figure out how to do it, cause at this point, i don't have a clue.

Now, granted, someone going the other direction going just as fast probably wont hear it, but it will be heard when your passing someone. It sounds great on the Decel too.

I have an Edelbrock catbacks on my 84 TA without headers and I have them on my 88 GTA with headers. I have to agree in general they are on the quiet side compared to other exhausts but when you open the car up people will hear you coming. Not to mention as they get older and blown out they sound even better.
