header paints?

I am about to take my Edelbrock headers off because the factory coating is starting to disapear (its just the black paint) and there is a light coat of rust which looks like ***, Is there any kinds of paint out there that I can spray on them that wont come off as easy or at all that I dont have to bake on, I dont want to waste the time striping them and everything if the paint is gonna come off because they it will probably look worse than it did.

Thanks in advance

that is the problem with rattle can high temp paint. on headers it very seldom stays on. i have been told to get the highest ceramic type, 1500* i think, and put them in the oven to bake/cure. it should make it hard and durable but i dont have an oven to try it. otherwise look at jethotting them or something if money isnt that big of an issue.

I've got a set of used edelbrocks I just picked up also. Like you I want to have them sand blasted and try painting them somehow. If you happen to find anything that works for you, please let me know.

Same here. The paint on my headers came off one side after only one day. The other side still has a lil bit left. I'd like to put something on them that will make it look good and at the same time keep the temps down. There has to be a cheaper alternative to having 'em Jet Hot coated.

I went the same route, twice, with the spray bomb paint. Once with a Pep Boys hi temp when the TES was new & once after I took the off, sandblasted, painted with VHT & baked them in the gas grill for an hour. It still only lasted about 6 months until they started to rust. Next step was Jet-Hot & haven't regretted it.

camarokid-when you take your edelbrocks off, take a look at the mating flange. There is a ton of etra weld in the tube openings that needs to be removed.

Look at my post to see the pics of the difference in before and after grinding the extra welding material out.

The Black Satin requires no baking like Cermakrome does.
I know I pitch their stuff alot but, I've used their stuff and the quailty is great plus, it's not much over the price of 2 cans of the crappy spraybomb junk at the chain stores. For the frugal 3rdgenner, it's alot better than bending over for JetHot.
