the actual headers werent too bad, but getting the y-pipe on and lining up the collector gaskets was a PITA...it took two people...one notice - anyone planning to do this with Hotchkis SFC's, ur gonna have to cut the y-pipe to clear them...anyway big difference driving it now

i just spent 5 and a half periods at school installing my headman headers. it ran real nice for a lil while. like the first hour or so.now my car seems to run rough. would the o2 sensor not being plugged in plus the lack of my cc carb cause that? before installing the headers i got bad gas mileage cuz of the carb but it still ran smooth. now it seems to run kind of ruough. it seems like there is more vibration and acceleration is a little bit slower. could the headers have liejk melted plug wires and cuased this or soemthnig else? i'm waiting to get the right plug wires for my mallory distributor. so when that goes in i won't have to worry bout the bad timing advance from my distributor due to the ecm.

Then you'll need to get an O2 bung for it and weld it in. It's either that or get rid of the CC carb.

oooo i forgot to mention i already got rid of the cc carb and put an edelbrock 600 cfm carb on it. i'm getting horrible gas mileage at the moment cuz of the cc distriubtor and no cc carb and now the o2 sensor is gone. but the distributor should fix it all because it doesn't even hook up to the ecm

If you didn't have a CC carb then the O2 sensor wasn't doing anything anyway.

Yep, get rid of that CC distributor and get a HEI one. If you are mechanically inclined I suggest you get a core distributor from a junkyard and get the Proform rebuild kit from Summit for $80. They don't have it listed in their magazine, but I can get you the part number if you want.

i already have a mallory dual point mechanical advance distributor, jegs coil, and i just got back from winners circle with my msd wires i needed to put in the distributor. i'm installing all of it tommaroow at school. putting in the new distributor and stuff should improve my gas mileage right?

If it's mechanical advance only, it will still be lacking. You need a vacuum/mechanical distributor for a street car.

i got the 68470. they are the short headers without the air tubes. they made a noticeable difference but i also put in my new coil, distributor and wires at the same time. i like them alot. the only think i have to do to get them to fit was to move one brake line back about 1/4 of an inch. took about 5 hours with a cherry picker and a buddy helpin me. o i also had a lift to use to get underneath. that helped alot

Yes, that sure looks like an O2 bung to me, but, the ones I got in yesterday do NOT have the bung, even though the guy at JEG'S told me there was one on it. He ALSO told me the y-pipe was 3".... NOT!!!. I am having a local guy weld on a fitting for my sensor. One question.... I don't have access to a welder so I guess it'll be ok to install headers/y-pipe and drive it to a local shop for welding the y-pipe together?
