I know I've posted here before about my Exhaust System. I'm getting some kind of dual exhaust done, Maybe "True" Duals, I don't know. Okay heres my delema. I have narrowed my choices down to acouple of different mufflers I maybe will use. I need help making a choice. And yes this is a V6.

(1) Dynomax: Ultra-Flo muffler- I was told that they wouldn't be loud do to the fact that my V6 motor will not push enough air to make them loud.

(2) Flowtech: Purplehornies- better glackpack design, less restrictive then a standard Glasspack muffler.

(3) Flowmaster: 40 Series- Good flow, but tinny sound, but good sound. but then again at sertain rpm it has a nasty persing tone that I hate.

(4) Supertrapp: Tuneble muffler- pretty good sound loud and tuneble so i can get the most perfomance.

Any help will be helpful

Well, I don't know how any of them would sound on a V6. But If I had to choose I would go with either the purplehornies, the flowmaster 40's, or else try the supertrapp. I've never seen anyone with the Supertrapp or talked to anyone with it, but it looks pretty cool

i'd go with the flowmasters also, the ultra-flows used to be called the race magnums and im using them for my race car. they are not reall a street muffler, the purple hornies sound like crap and all glasspacks are very resctive. any way it will sound weeeny becuase of the weak engine but your best chance is with the 40 series flowmasters.

 

The flowmasters, definitely, although the visual appeal of the 'trapps may outweigh everything else. Personally I think they're cool, but I see too many 5.0s around where I live with 'em. Also, I test drove a '93 V6 Firebird with a stock exhaust and it sounded good despite the 6. Quiet, but a nice low grumble... pretty good low end torque for a 6 too by the way, but that's not the point...

 

Flowmaster flow good? Yeah, and I rent property on the Sun.

I don't know if you're dead set on true duals,

I would recommend a single (probably with 2"-2½"intermediate pipe) with a Spintech muffler. They flow like no tomarrow. They sound good but different to a flowmaster, and not crappy like glasspacks, and no puffing/hissing sound of Supertraps.

I agree, actually Hooker mufflers are among the best flow wise. But a true dual exhaust on a V6 is a major waste of money and reminds me of ricers. You're going to slow your car down with no backpressure.

Dyno-max ultraflow welded crossflow(#172270).3in inlet,dual 2.5 inch outlets.Flows 980 cfm,MUCH more than flowmaster 80 series crossflow. Sounds richer/deeper too.

 

Lets be honest, Flowmasters, especially on a V6 won't sound "right". In fact they don't sound " right" on most anything I've ever heard them on, they crackle, pop, and with the exception of a few specific RPM ranges sound tinny/hollow. And they DRONE in the car at 2000-2500. Yes, they are LOUD, but that don't make em sound GOOD. Sorry.
