Edelbrock are among the most restrictive, but with the mods you list, it won't hinder you a bit. They're just not the best headers when you start building a power plant. And you'll definately notice an improvement. I did when I had my 305 and that was an LG4.

I would say that unless you are building a serious motor or trying to squeeze every last drop of hp out of your motor, the Edelbrocks are about the best bang for the buck. You will almost double the cost of the Edelbrocks if you go with the SLP's. Sure they are probably better flowing, but you need to think long term. If you plan on putting a larger motor in the car and really start searching for power, definately go with SLP, otherwise, Edelbrock is where it is at. You should notice a pretty decent increase in power in either case.

Search for my post in this forum about "Pictorial evidence, SLP vs Edelbrock headers" and you'll see my reasons why Edelbrock headers stink. And SLP headers are not twice the price of Edelbrocks. If you dont like SLP's price, get Hooker headers.

For the same price as Edelcrock, you can get Hedman or Hooker headers. Either of those two choices are way better than Edelcrock's headers.

How does Hedman compare to Edlebrock or Hooker, or any of the others? I have Hedman, and am interested in knowing how they stack up against some of the others that are available. I got them for free, so I am not complaining!

No they are not double the price. Like I said, they are almost double the price. I paid $300 for my Edelbrocks, and the SLP's cost about $450 plus you have to get their install kit which costs another $80-$110 depending on the car...almost double the amount.

$300 is low for edelbrocks now. I usualy see them for $320. SLPs are often on group purchase for $375 without the install kit. Install kit is about $50.

No, you dont have to buy the install kit. Please, do your homework next time. No wonder you bought Edelcrock headers.

Don't you need the install kit if you have A/C? I don't think the stock A/C brackets would fit.

I don't think they are that bad. I'm still waiting to see some proof that Edelbrocks hinder performance compared to SLP. Most comments I've seen against Eldelbrock is merely opinion.

Kevin91Z, not to argue you but, your post you made awhile back merely proved that stainless steel doesn't rust while plain mild steel does & looks bad when left uncoated.

dude SLPs are NOT double the price of edelbrocks. i have had both, and paid for both. my edelbrocks ran me 340 and my SLPs were 400. yeah, i didnt get the install kit but it wasnt that much more.

also, the edlebrocks will look like A$$ after about 10 minuites. they turn white and look TERRIBLE. teh SLPs are stainless and dont need finishing. if you ask me its a no brainer...SLP all the way.

A $25 bottle of coating from Techline solves that Z28 Boy. There is still no solid proof that the 1 5/8 SLP header is a better performer than Edelbrocks, just appearance comments.

Mine are about 4yrs old with a very thin coat of Techline Cermakrome (due to what I painted them with) & the headers haven't had an easy life...

... they seem to be holding up pretty good so far.

I have the Edelbrock's along with the 3" cat back, I can't say there better (performance wise) than the SLP's cause i never had them, BUT, you will notice a huge difference in acceleration. If your on a budget as I was 6 yrs ago, then get the Edelbrocks, If not I'd get the SLP mainly because their SS.
These Edelbrocks are pretty rusty, But they have no holes.
