i'm getting the hooker #16823 cat back(HERE).
that kit has a 3" intermediate pipe, and right now my i-pipe is 2.5". so i'll need a new cat.
i found some catco cat's at summit but they have different lengths:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...art=CTO%2D6007 - 46.39 - 14" long
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...art=CTO%2D2607 - 80.39 - 16 1/2" long
which cat is best fit so i dont have to fab it up?
i need air for emission so no air is unacceptable. if you guys know of any other highflow cats that are cheaper SHIPPED then lemme know
after i get this i will NOT be welding it together anytime soon. so the new cat and the new hooker cat-back have to be work good together with a slip fit

This is a TBI setup, which has weany pipe sizes - right? If so, that's bad news.
You're looking at getting the TPI-application cat-back with 3" pipe - that's good news.
You want a cat that will fit the cat-back, fit the y-pipe without modification/fabrication, and is cheap. Sorry, we can only give you one of those three, and neither of the cats you list do the trick.
The absolute best bet, and cheapest option, is to get a direct-fit cat for the same application as the cat-back. I don't know what that would be from Jegs, but from Summit it is CTO-9118 - $116.69. It will bolt directly to the cat-back. But, you will have to modify the y-pipe to fit the cat. Not too big a deal for a muffler shop - cut off a bit of the existing y-pipe just in front of the cat, expand one end of a piece of new pipe the same size as the existing y-pipe so it fits the cat opening, slip/clamp/weld it between the two.
If you're smart, you will NOT modify either the cat or the cat-back to get this to work. Then, when you can afford a set of headers, you'll get a set for the '86-'90 TPI single-cat application, which will mount right to this new direct-fit cat you're going to be smart about and get.
If in fact you have TPI, this cat will slip on your y-pipe and bolt directly to the cat-back.

The direct-fit CTO-9118.
The others will slip on the y-pipe, but that's the end of the good news.
