Me like it loud

Dear Friends,

I want to scare people with my exhaust system. I love it loud! How can I make my car sound scary?

I used to own a 1985 Berlinetta. It had the LG4 305- but it had headers, and the intermediate exhaust pipes were very short, and exited just in front of the rear wheels. I think that it had the three inch Flowmasters (one chamber?). It was loud! I miss that car.

The exhaust I have on my current car (an 84 Camaro Z) is headers, and then there is a single 3-inch exhaust butt pipe that goes to the back. Then, the ubiquitous Flowmasters. How can I wake the dead with my car's loud sound?

Love

I'm happy with my hooker, old sound clip in sig. After new heads and long tube headers, it's scary loud on take off.

heh, mark you recommend that for people wanting a quiet exhaust and a loud one. if you want to go all out loud, remove the cat and the muffler...thats pretty much as loud as it gets. bullet mufflers and the flowmaster 40 series or 1 chambers are supposed to be pretty loud. you should also look into flowtech warlock mufflers i think theyre called.

Since you live in a cave, just hack off the exhaust before your catalytic converter and it will be loud.

I going with Mark on this one. I like my Hooker Max Flows...

I've ran an open exhaust, and it's nice and all (scares the **** out of the cows around her), but It also take it's toll on your hearing.
At least the Hookers dampens the bad sound waves, the ones that will make you go deaf.

Go with a Dynomax Race Series Bullet or a Flowmaster One Chamber.

Either open headers or a Flowmaster 1 Chamber behind a built 350 or higher.

You're so determined to think that.

My neighbor runs his late model dirt track car with open headers and he's never burnt a valve.

About the only way you're going to burn a valve is if you run your A/F ratio too lean. I suppose that's a possibility with open headers, but not as likely as you seem to think.

Loud? Well......if you want a "Raw" loud...you could go with an electric cut-out and a 40 series Flowmaster. That way.......you could have the best of both worlds...The electric cut-out or the catback system (Flowmaster, Hooker, Borla, SLP...ect....)
