Ok, I need to make sure that this setup will work before i buy it..as i plan to do that soon..
Heres what i want on my exhaust for my 305 TBI..
1.) Summit Racing Headers..Part number SUM-G9005(will get better headers after 350)
2.) Flowtech Y-pipe part number BIG-11102Y (This will bolt up np right? Or does summit make a y-pipe too that is cheaper like the headers are, same thing as flows only cheaper?)
3.) Hooker Aerochamber catback part number HOK-16820
Ok so basicly, what else would i need to buy? What kind of cat? I dont plan on running the AIR garbage, so it doesnt need to have a AIR hole..I ask this because i dont know the size of the flowtechs where they meet the cat..its prolly 2-1/2 not 3 like the hooker(the hooker is 3 right? lol) Also do the flowtechs/summit have the 02 sensor hole? I guess i need that right? lol, the AIR **** i dont need tho..
Thanks for the help

If you dont need the AIR, why run a cat?????? You can purchase the new cats that dont need air injected into them...but I think they are kinda pricey. I know on the kind of cats we have....that running them without the AIR system...will cause them to clog up after time...because of our cars running so hot. If you dont have to worry about emissions, just put a straight pipe in place of the cat.....just my .02
Not that i dont have to "worry" about emissions..NJ is fairly strickt, but i dont go to DMV to get inspected..i just didnt know what kind of noise factors the cat will do and wont do..and if it will smoke more or something without it..so how bout it, anyone else in jersey running no air no cats?

The cat really doesnt have anything to do with the car smoking and what not. As long as its tuned correctly, it shouldnt smoke regardless. Not having a cat might make it a little bit louder, but its kind of a lower tone. I know mine got noticeably louder, but its a 350 also. Good luck.
section of pipe is cheaper too! but then i have to get it welded..and that i dont think any exhaust shop would do..weld a pipe in place of a cat? or can it be bolted up? need the orig question answered too please

I think for the money that you would be better off getting some headers that include the Ypipe. By the time you add the price of the headers and the price of the Ypipe, the difference is nominal. Hooker and Hedmann makes header/ypipe combos.....I would check them out. As far as the pipe in place of the cat, if your exhaust shop wont do it, just clamp it in place.......Good luck

I bought some summit brand shortties, i also bought a y-pipe that dont fit up to my hedders so i am gonna do some cutting and welding of the reducers onto the y-pipe to make it fit, beats buyin a new y-pipe or hedders.

Why buy headers twice? ( when the 350 comes ). The Flowtech and Summit headers have 1 1/2 primary tubes, while the Hedman have 1 5/8" which will support the 305 and the 350 just fine.
Buy the non smog Hedman headers w/ Y-pipe, they will run you about $200
Add an 02 sensor bung - cheap
Universal 3" in / out NON AIR Carsound cat can be had for $60
Hooker 3" catback $200

there should be a bung on the y pipe for the hedman headers... some people say that its not there, but in there advertisements and pictures, they are there. take a look.
I plan on gettin a set of hedmans and the ypipe coated for my set up this summer.
