headers worth the money?

I know headers are a good upgrade, but are they worth the money and trouble when they are the only upgrade (other than new exhaust) to a stock '83 z? It's not going to be raced, just a daily that needs a little "pick me up" for highway passing.

Definitely! More power, better fuel economy, and better sound.

For the most HP per dollar spent, they're about the best upgrade you can make. Get shorties, tho...easier to install, easier to hook up to your exhaust, and no clearance problems underneath.

One more thing - headers are what I call a "gateway" mod. They are a good starting point, and if you ever do decide to make any other engine mods, headers will improve upon the performance of most any other parts. Because if it can't breathe out, there's a limit to how well it can breathe in.

Just because you install Headers will not always make mouse (motor) roar. Remenber they are a starting point, so don't be disappointed by you SOTP feel.
