true duals....

does anyone know of a company that makes a true dual kit for our thirdgens? I would rather buy a kit for $250 than have it fabbed for $450.

no, it's all custom jobs. i wanna say that there is ONE company but they are just as expensive, or more, then a custom setup.

Fabbed up for $450??

our place in town does it for $100 if you have long tubes($150 for shortie headers) and you bring mufflers.....

I have 3" duals on my 86 camaro Z28 that dump under the rear end...

$450

now i just have to figure out how to get an x-pipe under my 89 formula 350

That's what I said when they told me $450. Right now I have a stock setup but, I am preparing for the future. But they wanted to charge me $450 because I was gonna go 2.5" and they said that with short headers, the pipe fabbing plus the cats and the 2 mufflers would run that much. I told them kiss off cause I planned to just go with a couple of dynomax muffs. I know they are not the best but, My motor isn't radical enough to have to use a single chamber muffler. And so many people around here use turbo, flows and thrush mufflers that I got sick of hearing the sound those mufflers create. So I'll stick with dynos

Thanx for your input guys. I may just buy the pipe and see if my buddy can get it done for me for a six pack or something. He has access to a mandrel and a mig.

ive got longtubes duals and an xpipe on my 4th gen. dont take it anywhere cheap. if they arent charging at least 300, then it will be a ****ty fab job. i got all mandrel bent 3" stainless pipes and it tucks up very well. i have never scraped on anything. also be wary of cheap jobs becuase they will not take the time to move the fuel lines and other various items out of the way or heat tape them.

yeah also beware replacing your tips on 4th gens because the stock muffler is mounted offset. you'll get one side further in the middle of the bumper whil the other sets more toward the outer edge of the bumper.... I worked at Midas for 3 yrs.

It's not the price you pay, it's how aware the tech is.

No clue about the summit brand but I think edelbrock advertises a "dual exhaust " system and all it's only a 2.5" version of the stock routing in our cars right now. Only one pipe from cat to muffler. Go check it out though and ask them what the setup looks like. Ask them if it has one pipe from cat to muff. If not I would definately be interested. P.S. The 5.8L (355) is almost ready for the RS. I broke a main cap though. so now I'm lookin for a set of main caps. Figured maybe I'll get lucky with one of them and won't have to have to engine line bored either that or I know a guy who knows how to weld cast steel. But, (and I don't mean to stray from our topic here) I am worried that this might not be the best idea. It's a 4 bolt main and the cap broke down the bolt bore of one of the outer bolts. So essentially I could bolt this cap down but, it would only have the integrity of a 2 bolt cap. so if I have this sucker welded, and clean out my bolt hole, does anyone here fore-see a problem. Like I said the inner bolts are fine. Will this affect my redline?

Briefly let me know please. This is an exhaust thread not engine. Don't want to stray from exhaust too much.
