my true dual idea

i'm probably gonna end up doing this soon. hedman full lengths bolted directed to purple horny glass packs. emissions tests don't exist in kansas city, so that's not a probably. what kind of problems will i encounter with the install on the headers? and how does the setup sound? i figure it shouldn't be too hard, there's no pipes or cats. just glasspacks bolted directly to the headers. comments?

glasspacks (i still laugh every time i hear "purple horny" ):

that is likely not gonna fit. once you get the hedmans in and see where the collectors end up, you will see what i mean. you will need to put some pipe on to the collectors. the pipes will have to bend down some, away for the floor and the tranny pan.

by the way, the reason i know this is that i just installed some hedman long tubes. i hooked these into my existing true dual exhaust setup.

i'm glad i asked before i got everything.

so, if i get some s-bends, everything will fit. but which muffler would be better between the purple hornies and dynomax magnum glasspacks? anybody have better experiences with one or the other?

I'd definetly use some kind of muffler rather than glasspacks.

They're OK if your name's Billy Joe Jim Bob, your mom's also your sister AND you're aunt, and your hat says "Old Style".

Then they still aren't good for performance

You have NO sense of humor.

I was talking about the SOUND of them.

AAMOF, change the name to Waldo, and take out the "sister, mom, aunt" comment, and I just described my grandfather. Or is that ALSO too much humor for you to handle.

Anyone who doesn't know that glasspacks don't perform anymore than a coffee can muffler IS as dumb as a *******.

They also sound horrible (unless they're on a '55 Chevy or similar type of car). If you're gonna run glasspacks (not you brody) then you may as well grow a ****** to.

No flame intended. I guess my sense of humor's as old as I am, and you younguns just don't understand it.

i used a set of the cheap "raptor" mufflers from flowtech for my true-dual setup.

they have aquired about 3 exhaust leaks since they are so LOW they hit about every little pebble in the road, but they sounded good before the leakiness.

doesnt quite sound like a chevy though, almost sounds like a mopar, or a really big ford motor, really strange
and im serious too.

I've got Hedman full length headers and I did the exact setup that is being talked about here, 'cept I used Cherry bombs for mufflers, it's alright, 'cept that cause I had to go under the tranny cross member the pipe hangs way too low, only have like 3 inches of clearance from the road, it scrapes alot over speed bumps and train tracks. It'll get me by for this year, bit I'm trying to find a better system. Just my two cents...

all i ended up doing was removing everything from the cat back and putting a single glasspack where the cat used to be. it's loud and sounds good, and it'll be good enough for now. i'll save up and get a good catback system, because i can't afford to lose any ground clearance to duals. oh well, it was a good try i guess.
