How do you have the rear of your car jacked? Make sure that the rear is sagging down so that you have the most room possible.

This is what I would do if I were you. Whenever I work on the rear of the car I either jack the rear under the pumpkin and rias it high enoug where I can get two jack stands under the car in front of the rear wheels. Look for the worn spot where shops jack your car. Put your jack stands there and when you release the jack your rear end will hang free and you will have tons more space. See your rear is in its loaded posistion right now if you let it hang it will be in its unloaded posistion. You should have no problem now.
