IMHO its gonna be over kill for a 305, youll probably hurt performance and just have an overly loud car thats gonna get u pulled over

You will sound like a motor bike man. My buddy did the same sorta setup in his Thunderchicken. He has a 4.6L engine and he ran true dualies into 2 glass pack Cherry bombs and well...it sounded just like a harley.

You should hear my iroc-z's exhaust, edlebrock nickel/chrome coated shorties, with the 3" y, dumping into a longer 3" bullet muffler with a 45* bend, entering some straight pipe, then some more, and a dump pointing towards the right rear of the car, it sounds bad as hell, a video or sound clip would do it some justice.

i agree with the 1st post. i think it will be way to loud and way to large for a 305. why not just run a stock style in a 3 inch with 2 packs tucked up by the frame on either side of the gas tank?

isn't a cherry bomb a glass pack but any way i was thinking of a similar set up i am not quite sure where i saw it but i believe it was a 3inch y from the headers 3" all the way back to a spliter which split off into two 3" pipes each going to these dented looking round mufflers that were chrome that looking kinda like a bomb then out to the tips.

the dented mufflers your talking about are called chambered packs/mufflers. was it on a white 3rd gen camaro? if your thinking of the same one i'm thinking of, that is definetly a sick setup. he used 68 chambered camaro packs on it. but that car is pushing a lot of power also. you'll get a different tone.

Cherry Bomb makes glasspacks and real mufflers. I've sold both.

The question "is it too loud"?? For myself I would like a fast car over a slow loud one. Just my opinion about cars with loud or no exhaust systems and no performance.

www.mufflex-performance.com

spintech is what you need my friend. unbeatable sound and preformance for high HP engines. one you go spintech, you never go back.

and for the one who asked about the chambered Z mufflers, classic industries sells them. i'll browse my catolog and get a part number and price for you

I wouldn't complain with a 12.00 with a 350. A 12 second car is a 12 second car.

Buddy of mine is selling a TPI system soon...i thought about getting it and saving for a supercharger...hmmmm.

Hi...a have a 305 LG4 87 engine with Flowtech headers and i wanna put two straight exhaust with just 2 cherry bomb...i will cut the to exhaust at the differential....
I have a 350 with hedman long tubes with 2 pretty much straight exhaust pipes with glasspacks cut off right at the diff and let me tell you I love loud cars but this is extreme because you cant talk to the guy in the car next to you its so loud....and a word of advice is dont run them straight back from the headers cause you will have ground clearance problems from hell I have already had to have my exhaust replaced twice because I will do 70mph on this one road and it has a slight dip in it and when I hit it my car DRAGS the ground and cuts a hole in the piping and the piping is running as close to the bottom of the car as you can get and my car is not even lowered so keep that in mind as well. If you do it at all have the duals run in the stock exhaust location it will save alot of headaches.

why not just get a real carb setup and a roots supercharger???

ive seen a couple of posts that actually rate HP on diff mufflers and glasspacks suck for HP... besides i hate the sound of "Thwapping exhaust pipes" harleys sound cool when properly silenced..

does anyone know if they make a cylinder shaped muffler in something other than a cherry bomb/glasspack? I'm looking in to true duals but i dont really want the glasspack sound. I wish flowmaster 40s were available cylinder shaped........

yeah there called Bullet mufflers, there made by dynomax, and are the ****, they sound awesome, and with the way my exhaust is set up I've driven by alot of cops already, and they never look at my car twice. I ran a best of 13.91 at 99 mph tonight, and a 13.94 98, to be consistant. I was also spinning the tires from 1st to second and second to third.

I have a real carb setup....

Just don't have enough hood clearance for a roots blower. And I am not going to cut a hole in my cervini hood...or get anything bigger.

The bullets are a glasspack muffler, with slightly less packing material.

That's one thing I don't get. Everyone talks down on glasspacks, but then talks about how great the bullets are. It's the same thing. Only difference is that one has a reputation as a red-neck muffler, and one is marketed as a race muffler. Not in any way talking about you're reply crons, just reminded me of this

Moroso sells a spiral something muffler that comes in a round case. Haven't heard it yet, but there's a bunch of sound clips floating around on here.

the glass packing inside a bullet muffler is in no way shape or form, similar to another muffler, bullets are straight through, almost all glasspacks, have gass poking out into the exhaust stream inducing back pressure, bullets create no back pressure, do there design, making them better, but also alot louder.

I have yet to see that, all the glasspacks I have ever seen are straight through. I have three sitting in my basement at the moment.

i think the diff is glasspacks have fiberglass of a sort in em while bullets and import can-type mufflers( mostly the cheap ones) have foam or some other deadning material

no i definetly don't want a (*****) muffler, I want true duals and theres a shop closeby that will do it but due to ground clearance they have to use cylinder shaped glasspacks. They run 1 pipe down each side and it exits in front of the back wheels. A friend of mine just got this done to his 87 GTA, and it turned out pretty well, its just way to loud for me. Thats why I was wondering if any of the "cylinder" shaped mufflers have a different sound than the typical glasspack sound.

Thanks for reccomending the dynomax "bullets" I'll definetly look into that....

my tru duals go all the way back and the only part i ever hit is up by the headers. sharp driveway inclines, speedbumps, dips @ high speed(although this is becuz my shocks are dead and i need front struts, i did teh rear). the flowmaster 40s i have sound awsome at idle and get nice and loud at WOT, they are right b4 the rear bumper about 2ft b4 the end of teh pipes

look in teh true duals gallery somewhere on the forums and they got a lot of pics and diff set ups
