Opinions on my ideas

Righ tnow i have a 3" ravin exhasut with high flow cat and am plannign on doign the tes headers an dypipe this winter. THe exhasut sounds good but i have thsi jesse james mentality of liking to scare old ladies and little kids with my pipes. I talked to the exhasut pros out here and they can get rid of my muffler and put in a y so i can keep my tips. THey said the short ravin muffler is still actually a fairly quiet muffler. It sounds good and has a nice tone but i need loud. THe can do it fo rthe colorado f-body price of 125 but i know a guy who said if it was too much he could talk them down. THe usuall is 175. Is this a decent deal they make up there own y's there in house and are known for being the best exhaust shop around. I've heard i am in for a huge sound difference with the y. anyone doen this is it worth the sound and super loud. I'm not looking for power out of it just pissed off neighbors lol

why not just install a cutout before the muffler?

I have thought about that but want to keep everythign coming out hte back of the car. through the tips. although are those electric cut outs still around. I remeber thsoe were real big a few years ago i think i would end up spending about the same amount but i never really had much luck with cut outs before. It seems to me liek most of it goes out but some still goes through the system. I think they tend to sound more liek an exhasut leak than anything. I think it sounds cleaner routed through the system.

with a stock cam/head/intake combo, it's going to sound like absolute crap. kinda like a pulp wood truck puttin' around town. i would seriously look into a different muffler to at least give it some tone. look at anything chambered. even a set of dynomax bullets will help.

no, that would be getting less mature. the comment about growing up was probably targeted towards the fact that irocbirdbuilder just wants loud. i have a loud car, and i hate it, i am redoing the entire exhaust so i can get a good tone out of it. going from heddman lt's/true dual moroso spirals muffs to a set of hooker 2460's/custom y-pipe/hooker catback. i think that the car will sound meaner cause even though i have an aftermarket intake/cam/carb combo, it still doesn't sound "awesome" like the hooker catback will.

oh, and don't get fooled into thinking that louder=faster

I don't particularly want to encourage behavior that reflects badly on me. Since I occasionally drive through Aurora, I don't want those who have preceded me to have given the citizens and law enforcement reason to assume me guilty by association.

i understand, altho i don't have to worry about that, no cops care around here and it's funny when people complain when there's no law against it. so i make it louder to be ***** for a few days, then they stop and i go back to somewhat quiet again.

Why would you want a loud 305 TBI. I had to drive down the road with open hedders on my stock head and cammed 305 TBI at the time and I was embarassed it sounded so bad. To all who care, his car will sound like an old beat up truck and still be slower than his neighbors honda. Then again there is nothing like the sound of a wide open 305 TBI with swirl port heads and a .320 lift cam
