Please excuse my ignorance

Alright guys, as most of the people on here do, I'm going to ask a few questions. Please keep in mind I don't really know anything about cars, except that I know what I like.

Now that I got the "I'm an idiot" disclaimer out of the way, I want to get some exhausts for my '92 RS, but I really don't know what I should be looking for. As I was on Flowmasters site, I ran across the 30 Series, which.. to me, sounded great. However, I'm not sure if I can afford $400 on some exhausts. However, My neighbor says he will sell me his old flowmasters for.. Get this.. $40.00. Next time I see him I will ask what car the exhausts came from, but in the mean time. What exhaust will I need to fit into my car?

What other brands are out there? I know of Spintech, but, from what I heard, their prices are the same thing, if not more then Flowmasters. Anyway, thanks for the help.

Welcome aboard. Start by reading the stuck threads at the top of this forum that help explain the different exhaaust systems out there. Any exhaust tailored for 3rd gens will work with your motor. That means any TPI, TBI, or carb specific header for 3rd gens will work on your car. I would buy a complete exhaust for a TPI car. That way you can get a full 3" which is leaps and bounds over your stock 2.25". I would replace every peice of your exhaust all at once so that you don't have to worry about reducers and such for aftermarket cat-backs to mate to your cat/y-pipe.

I bought one of these and was very happy with it and thought the price wasn't to bad either. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

Wait, Shifty, he has a 3.1 V6, not a V8. You can still get headers, but as far as I know only one company makes them, Pacesetter. Check out the V6 board for info on those.

Yes I see that now. Thanks for the catch. Only take what i posted into consideration if you are going with a V8 swap. Otherwise, consult with the V6 gurus. I goofed on this one. Thanks for the heads up Ben.

I don't think I can afford gas on a V8, let alone a V8 Motor
