Dual outlet 40 questions
I was wondering I kind of missing have dual tips out the back one on the left other on the right. I don’t particularly like the 80's sound, little to raspy for me but that maybe due to me having a 305. But I was thinking using the Flowmaster 40 truck muffler the 3" inlet dual 2 1/2 out same side and running it like the magnaflow system. Has anyone tryed this if so have any pictures and how does it sound?

Maybe try the 40 series delta flow muffler. That might quiet things down a bit. I don't have one, so I can't say for sure, but that might help.
the 40 is louder than the 80, and sounds about 90 times better....i think i'm going with that same muffler, and routing it the same way as your have pictured...i love the sound of that american muscle that flowmaster 40 series has...

put some bullet mufflers inline, that will tone down the noise a lot of that flowmaster. you wont lose any power either. sounds much more crisp, less rasp and tone down all the interior rachet that muffler creates.

I'd go with the 3" inlet 2 1/2" dual outlet 80 Series. Sounds way better than the overdone and bigger all 3" 80 Series.

no the 80 series is made for 3rd gens, its a crossflow designed just for our cars...but i happen to like the biger 3" 40 series, the crossflow 80 sounds to hi pitch, and rapsy....

I think the 40s series sounds like crap, its way too quiet for my liking. You all say that the 80's is quieter? What muffler can I go to that will be louder then the 40s sinle inlet dual outlet?

yea i heard the 40 series on a 383 stroker the otherday...not loud enuf for my likings..i think i'm gonna go with straight pipes, or maybe throw in a bullet muffler or soemthing....will the bullet muffler change the sound at all, or will it just muffle it??? i'm debating if i should just leave the bullet muffler off...

if a 40 series aint loud enough for you, i dont know what is. run the header tubes in the window and drive at 700000000000rpm.
thats about the loudest muffler out there, minus the 1 chamber slowdisaster race muffler.

I'm ready to start ordering parts this week but I'm not sure what length tips to buy I want them to be long enough that the polished part disappears under the car when looking from the side like Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back. If anyone has this cat-back I would really appreciate a measurement of just the tips.

check with the folks you are buying the tips from. most of the time the long ones (24-28" ???) neck down at a slope to fit 2 1/4 inch stock piping. the muffler man can usually cut them to length, and they can still be welded onto 3" pipe. i dont have any pics, cause this was back in the day before digital cameras.
my whole system is stealth now. no bling.
might get you some ideas turning in your head though.
good luck.
