Sniper Cat-Back?

I have a 88 IROC LB9 Conv. imported to Japan as new, car was sold secondhand and recently export to me in Australia. Question: Has anyone ever heard or come across a SNIPER brand cat-back system, label says made in Japan, do they exist on the USA market?
Thanks, any info.

Holy Sh*t!!!

You can buy that exhaust for a thirgen?

It's a little over the top for me but the design looks good.

It that a pic of the system on your car?

If so, how does it sound? (those look like staright thru r*ce mufflers to me)

Do you have any more pics? I would like to see some more pics like an over the axle picture and some general undercar pics.

Something new, Cool!!!

Sniper Racing Pics

I guess your replies are positive, I'm not being stupid just not into hot Japnenese racing I guess and yes these are fitted to my 88 IROCZ Conv. I have owned Hotrods and they use mostly custom exhausts and when I got this IROC I thought it looked good. Sound is excellent deep and mellow, fairly loud but were not as strict in Oz. Performance must be good as some guys familiar with the LB9 said it was very strong. The engine appears stock overwise, except no AIR, EGR and the Cat is shell only.
Maybe someone could tell an old man more about this Sniper Racing? The label says "Sniper racing produced by Lucky Auto". The pipe from muffer to tail pipe is 2 1\4" OD.
I also show a photo of the 16" mags that also came from Japan and remeber please that the Thirdgen's sell for anywhere from 10K to 25K over here.
So yeah, I got out the jack stands here are the photos.

Well today I did another Google search and had better results, so if you are interested have a look at http://www.luckyauto.com/cars/comp1.htm
Click on the "Shotgun" word, the pic does look familiar. The price is 128000.00 yen, like $1219.51 real money...glad they came with the car.
I can't read it but the pictures look OK.

i really like the look of that exhaust.. the way the tips extend so far back, and how they're angled slightly upwards.. plus, those two smaller mufflers with the y pipe in the middle is definitly unique compared to all the other run of the mill crossflow mufflers.. if it was sold here, and wasn't so damn expensive (dont know the aussie/yank $ conversion, but i'm assuming that's expensive), i'd definitly have that exhaust..

Huh… nice. From the basic layout it looks just like what I originally made for my ’83 back in the early 90’s. Same exact layout but I basically skipped the small mufflers and had 2x3” tips on it. Combined with headman headers, a custom y-pipe with 2 high flow cats it sounded surprisingly mellow, smooth and low but did get loud at WOT.

I’m curious, do you notice any difference in flow from one side to the other? The reason that I ask is that I had problems getting through emissions with that car because there was more exhaust flow coming out on the driver’s side and the test assumed that the reason was that I was cheating, dumping out some of the exhaust somewhere further forward.

Sniper flow

My set up is with crossover to single hollow Cat and then to Sniper. I have not noticed a flow difference from either side, but then I really have no way to measure. Emissions testing is not done over here unless you modify the vehicle and once certified no more ...no checks unless your are stopped and the police request it. My car was originally a California spec. sent to Japan where emissions are watched closely, AIR, ERG are gone. I took off the AIR to reach the plugs and besides they were ugly. Modern (ECU) street machines (engine swaps) in Oz are often tweaked, many poorly without prom adjustment and run high fuel ratio's. We have a lot of rules but not a great deal of enforcement, fines are weak. Octane (RON) levels are 87 Std. & 96-98 Prem.

the only way i could see you getting one in the US is either 1) finding a way to buy one from them and shipping it over or 2)coming up, by some freak of nature, on a car that's being parted out with that exhaust..

I'd think that if you did the Y before the bend that you would get more flow to the passenger's side. The picture shown looks like it would have more flow to the driver's side.

Flow side?

I can confirm that there is in fact greater flow from the drivers side, guess about 20%.
