Need some feedback

I have a 88 firebird trans am with the 305 TPI. I recently put TES edelbrok headers on and it was a very tight fit. I still have the original CAT I believe and that will be changed at a later date.

The cat back system is currently probably the original since 88. Has a few holes in the pipes and a nice big one in the muffler

I decided maybe 16823HKR from summit would be right way to go and costs about $280. I dont want it to be too loud, I feel this should have a nive deep tone. Anyone using it or heard how they sound on someone elses 305 TPI? Do you recomend them? they are 3 in internal, will I lose torque? I alreadey feel I lost as a result of the headers, but i couldbe misstaken...

Also, I think it will look good with the dual Split rear

considering my current system has some nice holes, I probably want see any gain, performace wise, since i have a nonrestrictive system, considering the holes in the system hehe . Or am i wrong? Hope I am

Should have my hooker cat back by tomorrow

Is there some sort of high resistant rubber i can put at one location on my y pipe that want melt? Sometimes it touches the chassi and vibrates. Usually when turning.

Thanks,
Sam

You will like the cat-back and it will be leaps and bounds over the stock junk. The stocker is full of crimped bends and all those hols are causing turbulent flow. You should pick up power with the new set-up. You may want to re-adjust your y-pipe to keep it off the oil pan and K-member. There should be plenty of room for it.

EDIT: If your exhaust moves that bad you could have bad motor mounts.

If it is just a matter of the exhaust being to close, you can use a large pry bar and just tweak it down 1/4" or so.

I have a hooker catback for my car, and one for my fiance's camaro. They aren't on yet, but all of them I have heard are pretty incredible. Nice quiet rumble at idle, and insane at WOT.

Thanks for the info,

I put it on yesterday and it was getting cold but i kept at it. I now have pain in every musle in my body. Mainly due to not having had enough clearance under the car to work. I then had the system welded in place and saved like 100 bucks

Sounds nice and quiet, uch more quiet than it was earlier. (had a few holes in the muffler and pipes)

I peaked into my old muffler and man was it in bad shape. Fully corroded and broken down hehehe must have been causing back pressure even though i had holes at certain locations....

The Y pipi touching the chassi is not excessive. when it does it is just a little vibration. I guess as ShiftyCapone suggest changing the mounts want hurt.

Next step is to do something to the intake.

easier said than done my friend. definitely want to get a friend and set aside a couple of hours, and get ready to do a lot of cussing.

how do you like your hooker at wot? i've got a flowmaster 80 series but the muffler blew up, have a hooker aero in my garage, neighbor is gonna weld it up next weekend. i actually kind of like the way my car sounds with the flow all blown apart like it is, sounds downright nasty when i get after it, but can't drive around like that forever, you can see how its cracked open a couple inches from behind the car.

We got the hedman headers and hooker catback on the car this weekend, and it sounds pretty good. Nice defined rumble at idle, and very loud mellow sound at WOT. None of the rasp that flowmaster has...

Large improvement in performance over the stock manifolds, y pipe, and stock exhaust with flowmaster muff.

I agree with onebinky. got Edelbrook TES and hooker cat back.

Sounds great and fairly silent in cruise...
