Any way to kill the *snap*?

Hi everyone.

Just finished installing new exhaust. I put on dual 2.5 inch pipes with magnaflow mufflers. At an idle it sounds really nice. Nice deep tone. But as soon as you hit the throttle, or put the engine under any kind of load it snaps retardedly loud. Is there anything I can do to try and kill the snap?

Not sure what you mean buy snap but with my duals its quiet but under any load it gets loud and insane loud at WOT. Do you mean a actual snap noise like when you snap a twig?

When you let off the throttle? Or apply it?

nah, it's not an engine issue. It started happening right after I changed the exhaust. I don't see how that could cause an engine issue. If I can, I'll try and get an audio clip of it somehow. Any other ideas?

Maybe your exhaust manifold Gaskets went. On my car they some how blew out a chunk and it sounded like a stupid safari with an exhaust leak. It happened when I changed my exhaust to. I guess because I was refing on the thing to get it of,f and it loosened the header bolts just a little bit.

yup sounds like an exhaust leak to me....it sound relatively small too, because when you get on the gas, it builds up a bunch of pressure then blows out, and if it SNAPS real loud it probably is someplace where you have a gasket...the gasket allows it to snap like a wet towel or something...

Believe me...I've had the exhaust leaks that you're describing many times and I have a keen ear for picking up on it. This is total exhaust. I'll record a clip of it somehow and then maybe you'll understand what I'm talking about. I'm sure it'll help a lot.
