Why doesnt my exhaust fit?

so I've got a big problem. Either my Cat-back isnt right, the direct fit cat isnt right, or the y-pipe/headers arent right... which nail it down to ... just about anything in the exhaust lol.

basically, the exhaust is hooked up like the picture below.

I have the same cat-back (it's a hooker catback) as pictured. Then a direct-fit catco high flow cat, and SLP 1 5/8" headers/y-pipe which were fine on the car they were on before.

I'm confused why all these "direct fit" parts arent fitting directly!

i had a set of slp headers and i had fitment problems with the headers hitting the oil pan (moroso pan) i sold them off and went with a set of edelbrook headers. i did notice that the y pipes were different. maybe its a problem with that. also how long is the cat measuring. is it the same size as the stock cat.

Exhaust can be the trickiest bolt on because of all the variables......way to many factors to consider....just figure out a way to make it fit.

The only thing I can think of is using this flex tube, and cut out part of the cat-back so it's more of a straight shot for the tube.... I just dont know how well flex tubing would hold up against exhaust heat.

I've been using it after the collectors on the '57 since '99, and behind the converter on the full-size van since '00.

That helps a ton actually! Thanks for the picture, I hope you dont mind my editting it to show how mine is.

I'm assuming this is an exhaust setup for a earlier model Camaro that I have?

The red line is how mine goes.... btw, do you know if they sell just the y-pipes?

aint no problem bout editing my pic....cause i also edited yours....well i figured that these cars have the exhaust running along the driveshaft ....and your cat-back is not lettin it run side by side with the driveshaft...maybe you can bend it yourself or have a muffler shop bend it just a bit ....but since you said your y-pipe is pointing differently...then you may try bending that too like in my pics of my y-pipe . Your car is a 86 Camaro right? well here's a pic of what i would do

I actually found out why it all doesnt fit up... SLP trying to be money hungry, and didnt make it a direct fit with a cat ... UNLESS you buy their conveniently made "catalyst adapter" as you can find on Spohn's website, http://www.spohn.net/product.cfm?productid=1442 is the link directly to the item in mention...

Thanks for the help everyone.
