Anyone running a single 3" Bullet?

If so, how loud is it? I have Headman shorty headers, y pipe, catco 3" cat, 3" cat back with genaric muffler with dual 2 1/2" tailpipes.

I am wanting to ditch this crappy turbo type muffler, and go with a single 3" in and out performance muffler.

I was thinking about the bullets because they are sooo cheap, or a Hooker Aero Chamber, because I have heard they flow real well.

Will I be able to live with a bullet, or will I just get harassed, or driven insane?

Depends how you drive, where you live, and the state of your hearing.

with a cat it's not really all that loud. Without the cat it's much louder though.

I have straight pipes with a bullet and love it.. all depends on if loud noises bother you. If they do, by a flowmaster. If they don't, get a bullet muffler.

You may or may not get harassed. I get compliments.

Sounds doable with the cat, so I think I will order one and see what happens!

Which bullet are you ordering? I should have my Dynomax (p/n 24222) on Friday. For $35 I couldnt pass it up.

The exhaust on my car is the same as yours. Hedman shorties, 3" y-pipe into a direct fit 3" in/out catco cat with a full 3" cat back.

My plan is to remove my 3" flow and test fit it right there. I'll post a clip of what it sounds like over the weekend. If I like then I am going to have the full loudmouth system made at a place nearby.

I also heard the hooker sounds really good as well. You probably cant go wrong either way.

Cool, glad to hear someone else is doing it to. I would like to hear your results. I am looking at the 12" bullet. It will be a couple weeks before i get mine though.

My car had a 3" bullet. I found it intolerably loud. I'm sure my neighbors didn't care for it either.

The one you got tyhe 12" or the 18".? After looking under it last night, the 16" seems like it would fit better, plus maybe be a little quieter than the 12"?

I heard it, sounded a bit cackley ( is that a word?) But I noticed you are not running a cxat, so I am guessing mine will sound a little smoother.

Bullets ain't for me. I would much rather have a quiet car with good tone. Hence my SLP 2otL cat-back. Nice'n quiet most of the time. Cops tend to harass loud cars around here. I also get annoyed with highway drone which is why I don't have a flowmaster on the car anymore either.

Yes it will on yours Johnny. The cat delete added alot of rasp to mine.. it does however sound a LOT like something out of the 60s when I'm just cruising around. I get ODD looks from old-timers!

question.....

i am also thinking of a single 3inch bullet to get rid of my flowmaster

summit has a 16 incher and a 23.5incher. i am thinking 23.5 as it will be somewhat quieter. would that be correct? i am still running a cat. how loud do you think that would be?

I would think the longe one would be a little quieter, but I doubt you can tell much difference. I will be ordering the longer one.

This is funny I did this exhaust over a year ago, I have edelbrock tes's with 3" collector, with a long 18" bullet and a dump before the axle, sounded amazing, its still plenty loud, but mellow up to 2500, then it starts to get much louder, but cruising at 80 isn't bad and the good part about using them, is that they have 0 backpressure and act like a collector extension, its a more economical muffler too. I did my exhaust this way, b/c it will support 450hp, without hurting hp, and boosting torque, along with a different, better sound in my opinion contrary to ordianry belief. And I was tired of flowmaster this, flowmaster that, I would buy an edelbrock before hooker, flowmaster or most other brands, because the cost for the sound, wasn't worth it to me, considering that I would make the same hp as the more expensive exhaust. Not to mention like others have said, some people may not like it, but I love it and its even better when mash the gas, and the world sounds like its coming to an end, next to and behind the car while the car next to you drifts ever so far away.

The shorter mufflers are definitely louder and these mufflers work amazing, these are commonly used on 8.90 dial in, throttle stop classes and faster, like low 7's faster, they can't blow out either. These are older pictures, I have a dump that is about 12" long now that dumps in the middle of the car.

Yes, the longer one will quiet it down more than the shorter one, as well as give it more "tone."

Anyone who has had experience with both, would you say the bullet is louder than a flowmaster 80 series?

MUCH louder. I had a flowmaster 80 on my T/A before the bullet, the difference is a LOT. Sounded pretty much the same at idle, but after that it just blew the flowmaster away.

Is there a way I'd be able to keep my same system and just switch out the mufflers or would i have to do more than that to put a bullet in?

If you're looking to retain the flowmaster, but have something a little more nuts intended for fun use, you need a cutout!

You can get a manual one for $30 from summit racing, and have it installed. You have to crawl under there and undo the plate on it to allow the exhaust to flow through it instead of the cat+muffler.

Or you can get an electric one (about $200) which you can open with a switch in the cockpit.

A cutout basically is a valve installed in your exhaust system that when open lets your exhaust flow straight through and bypass everything past it.
