Stock L03 with no muffler or cat

Will this be way to loud? I have a single 2 1/4th pipe. I removed the cat and it sounds nice but will removing the muffler just be unberably loud? I do not have headers either.

Ok did it and for anyone looking to do it. Its very loud and it smells horrid. I would recomend keeping your cat and then not using a muffler. Sounds better this way and it wont give you a headache.

That sort of thing happened today to me at school. My friend was doing donuts in his MGB(me in the passenger seat), and the rusted pipe before the muffler snapped. Everyone was laughing cause it was scraping against the ground. I smelt(don't think that's a word) gas wherever we drove it after that.

I personally DON'T recommend doing either. My cars exhaust rusted through sometime shortly after I bought the car (a year and a few months ago) between the cat and then I-pipe. I've been running nothing but a catalytic converter since.

Here is why I hate this setup:

1. It's waaay too loud. If you compare it to an aftermarket exhaust, it'll probably have similiar dB numbers, but since it is exiting right underneath the floorboards instead of the rear, all the sound resonates right into the cabin of the car.

2. Speaking of which, since the exhaust dumps right under the floorboard, it is a potential safety hazard. The fumes from car exhaust are deadly (being the reason you should not start a car in a closed garage). I always have to keep the windows down to keep fresh air in the cabin.

3. The smell is awful. When the exhaust first rusted through, my friends would complain of a rotten egg smell coming out of the exhaust. That seems to have subsided (probably because the cat is not functional anymore) but now my passengers tell me the car reeks of gas fumes.

4. Did I mention it's way too loud?

I'm kicking myself for not fixing this problem sooner. Ahh, how things have changed since high school.

Yeah after ny friends muffler broke off it smells pretty gasy. He has a convertable so I don't think it's as much as a hazard.

I would recommend keeping both as a stock LO3 sounds like complete *** w/no exhaust (ie: muffler missing and/or I-pipe gone as well).
Wow.. it's loud.. and slow.. just like a 4cyl with a 5" muffler except you're out less cash for the gaudy muffler.

In my opinion is doesnt sound bad. But at WOT its just a little too loud.

I didn't notice any power gains really but I do notice it breaks loose easier.

I also must mention that I made a custom 2.5 all the way back. LT1 cam and 2460s are going on soon.
