Hooker 2210 Modification-AFR Head Straight Plug
We all know that the 2210 has a problem with clearance on the # 7 plug with these headers. I was thinking about modifing that tube to extend out a liitle further maybe 1"- 2" toward the fender. I was thinking about cutting the # 7 header tube and use a J-bent 1 3/4 to extend the pipe out, so that we can use a regular plug on that cylinder. Has anyone tried or know another remedy for extending the header tube out. The shorty plug and the 90* boots burn is not a good long term solution. The best fix will be to cut the tube and use a J-bent pipe to extent the tube so that you can use whatever plug you want without the mods. BTW: I'm talking about the problem we have with AFR Heads straight plugs.

Someone here has done it but I think he sent the header out to a shop. I plan on doing it sooner or later, just hard for me to cut into those headers right now hehe. Dimpled the hell out of that tube for now and seems to be working just fine. The boot hasn't crumbled to bits yet after driving it around probably 150 miles.

I think with this size tube (Ceramic) is will provide enough clearance for the plugs without a shorty and burning the plugs boots.

I think this will be sufficient tubing to complete the modification: Mandrel Bend Tubing Exhaust Tubing, 180 Degree, Mandrel J-Bend, 1 3/ 4 in. Diameter, 2 1/ 2 in. Radius, 18-Gauge, Steel, $14.95 from Summit.

I had to relocate the tube and I did use a short plug. No problems whatsoever. Been this way for nearly a year now.

If the 2 1/2 is not enough bend I can go up to 3".

The summit part# is SUM-621003. It is 2.6" radius. Worked perfect. My advice is to order 2 of these in case you mess up on one. 94-6spd
