A.I.R. tube to CAT

I got a quick question. I just replaced my stock exhaust with a catco cat and a hooker catback. I couldnt get the air tube disconnected off of the old cat, it was rusted on there, so i had to take the SAWZALL and cut it. I cut off as little as i could so theres about a 3-4 inch gap between the air pipe coming from the cat to the pipe coming form the front of the car. My question is, how can I connect these two pipes? Would a rubber hose work or would heat be an issue? What kind of options do i have? Thanks

You could just remove it. You have visual inspections?

I wouldn't use rubber, because of the heat, but maybe rubber would work if you wrap it in some sort of heat shield. Try it. You can try Home Depot and try to find tubing that will work or any muffler shop should be able to weld up what you need.

I have considered just deleting the entire AIR system. I just did my emissions test like 3 weeks ago(b4 i got the new exhaust) And I dont think they did a visual inspection. I know this was broguht up in another thread but, There should be no problem if i delete the AIR system even though i have a direct replacement cat(CATCO 9118) with the AIR tube? I could just plug up the tube on the CAT right?

Yes. The AIR system doesnt help you pass emissions it just makes the CAT get into its heat operating range faster.

Auto parts stores sell a high heat piece of tubing and two clamps to patch the air line and new cat together.

Different question for you guys. Been a while since I gutted any of my cats and would like to remove the air system and the tube going down to the convertor but I want to cut the air tube off flush with the cat and weld hole shut in cat. ( I am big on making it look as if it was never there) That air tube goes into cat I know for sure but is it attached at the other side of cat where I could not pull it out without removing and getting inside ? Anybody know ?
