Just ordered an exhaust cutout...

Well I finally did it after like 6 months of waiting....I ordered a 2.5 inch cutout for my exhaust system on my car.

I do have a few questions though, I was searching around in the forums and read up that cutouts can give you as much as a 3/10s of a difference in your ETs and can give you a good amount of hp for the money.

I paid 32 dollars for it and I think I got a good deal, its also summit's new design as well.

Anyway quick questions, my exhaust is relatively stock, however down the road I plan on doing some Hooker 2055 headers installe and maybe a hooker catback.

As of now, I only have a 3 inch bullet muffler installed on the car and an open element air filter. With the exhaust cutout fully uncapped, would my car be much louder? I plan on putting it on the I-pipe about midway down where there's a straight way.

I want my car to sound loud and good, so would this be a reality with the exhaust cutout. I basically got it for sound and cheap performance, I am not expecting gobs of hp here.

Anyway, what do you all think.

Down the road, I may order a hooker catback system because I have always wanted one, but I do like the sound of the bullet muffler.

Thanks

With it being a ways down the line and on what sounds like a stock exhaust you wont get a great deal of power from opeinig it up but it should sound pretty good.

For the most power/sound, you need to put it before the cat.

I dunno, running an open cat is too much for my ears to take and its very loud, I can't take that.

I am saying on the I-pipe like right after the converter, or maybe 6-7inches away from the converter.

Somewhere down the line I plan on doing headers as well, maybe another catback system too.

If I can get a measley 5 hp outta this thing I'll be happy, I am not exactly expecting gobs of hp either as I said before. Mainly for sound.

Sound you will get, as for power it depends how bad/good the rest of the exhaust system is. if the pipes are beat to crap and the muffler is full of dead critters i would say 5hp is a walk in the park but if the system is tip top you might see a couple extra ponys.

muffler is basically new, its only like 3-4 months old, the pipes and everything else are clean and fine though...

I cant wait to see how it will sound like...finally people will know I am coming.

hmm i ran an open y-pipe (cat pipe removed) and with my system corked up. I had no cat and just a bullet. I saw no real difference in ET or trap.

the sound won't change much unless you put it up before the cat.

that's one of the beautiful things of a bullet muffler, it flows like a cutout lol, but the tuned length of the exhaust remains longer.

The closer to the header collectors the cutout is, the better it will work and the better it will sound. Period.

Right after the converter is where it will be on that nice long straight line of i-pipe....
