Headers....

Okay I am gonna be building a 91 RS 305 up...I plan on doing a TBI to TPI swap...now for headers would these work good HOK-2460HKR??
Will they bolt up find to factory aslo...I plan on changing headers back but for now fine?

What would you guys recommend with staying about 150ish range adn 1 5/8s with 3 inch collectors

With $150 I would look for a used set of headers. The hooker 2460's are okay but you will either have to buy their junk y-pipe and or fab up your own. This adds cost. I would look for a used set of SLP's, Mac's and or Hooker 2055's (strongly recommended). You cannot cheap out on headers if you plan on buying them new. The problems you will experience will cost you more in the end than if you had purchased a quality set in the first place.

I would suggest saving up more money and doing it right. $150 isn't going to cut it unless you find a deal on something used.

Do you have emissions inspection or testing to be concerned about? That should be considered before making any choice (although my recommendation wouldn't change either way).

Well this is a project car...so im building over a year or two...I have more than 150 but I plan on getting an intake, cam, tune gears etc...I just wanna get a decent set nothing rediculous!
I plan on doing full 3inch pipes also.

you might want to put most of that money towards a full exhaust to start...the other mods (intake/cam) won't do much good without the headers and good catback.

Re: Headers....

Like they said, get a full exhaust before anything else. And just get a good one now, don't waste your money buying one to hold you over for awhile.

And no, flowtech are no good..

Re: Headers....

If I was the owner of Flowtech (I think Holley owns them now) I would include these instructions with their headers.

Step one: Open Box

Step Two: Firmly Place in trash can

Step Three: Buy new headers from different source

Re: Headers....

HA! flowtechs....they aren't even worth the steel they are made out of. I purchased a set to just toss on after I got my engine in my car and they sucked so bad I couldn't believe it. The mounting flange from the header to the head wasn't even machined straight and I had to keep doing header gaskets, doubled up....god what an annoying nightmare! I just bought a set of Hedman Elite ceramic coated shortys and I'm going to do the swap in about an hour. I've used Hedmans before, and I know some say they are just as bad, but I've always had good luck.
