A/C bracket for shorty headers, 91 Camaro
I am getting vibration because of that lack of a rear bracket on my A/C. I have a 91 camaro with hedman shorties on it. Any companies make a bracket I can use?

If you still have the original bracket and it's the same as mine-attaches to the block at the first and second manifold bolts then to the power steering pump and compressor. Try trimming off the rear half of the "U" (that attaches to the second exhaust manifold bolt). You can then attach the bracket to a stud at the front of the manifold (or hedder), the power steering pump and the compressor. Worked for me several years running.

Im on the passenger side not driver side with the power steering. The original bracket went to the cast manifold.

The original bolt is what you will need to use, unfortunately. I've had mine on for years and have never had a problem with it.

I'm a newbie to the exact car that you have, only a '92. I am about to purchase Hedman shorties. Do you know if that is one of the problems with Hedman shorties, that the A/C bracket needs to be altered? Sure would like to know.

heres what you'll need to do:
goto the hardware store and get a stud that matches the current header bolt.. get three nuts and washers to match it.
remove the header bolt where it used to bolt to.
screw in the stud.
put on one washer and a nut.. tighten the header.
put on another nut partway down the stud, then the washer, then the brace/bracket... then another washer and the last nut.
adjust the nuts until the bracket/brace is in the correct position.. then hold one nut still with a wrench and tighten the other.
i did a howto with pics on this years ago... it should be on here if you search with my name.

Oh, there is. You can get the setup from March or I think it's called Vintage Air. Their system doesn't use the brackets like the factory setup. Downside, you have to fork out $$$ for the complete setup.

You've got serp set up right? Older style, like mine, use a v-belt set up. I'd recommend taking Mr. Dude,s advice. It can be done easily, at little cost and you can use stainless pieces that will look sharp.

Which bracket are you looking for? Do you need to replace your original bracket? If there's not a JY near you with these pieces, try Hawk's. If they can't help you let me know as I'm hitting my local guy tomorrow afternoon (if work lets me out early).

no.
its really retarded that you expect a perfect OEM fit with an aftermarket header.. and that a clean, workable solution is availible for cheap, and you want to buy something totally diffrent because of it.
i guess i could make you a billet stud and have it all shiny.. nothing sticks out like a sore thumb and grabs your attention like a piece of billet crap on an otherwise stock motor.
heres a tip.. since its already vibrating, id bet the bolts holding the rest of the bracket on, espically the ones down near the bottom of the block, are also coming loose now... snug them all up, then either use the factory brace, the factory way, with a stud... or use a single long bolt and a spacer... or jsut deal with it... if you choose the last option, i reccomend going back to manifolds.

With serp to v-belt, I was more worried about the water pump... and don't pick on me cause I like stainless, it's next to a coated hedder anyway.

No it is retarded that they make it for older cars but not for ours.

I am not looking for some fancy billet peice or anything. I am just not rigging a bunch of washers and crap in there. If your not gonna be helpful why even say anything?

i prefer to use washers so i dont gall anything... but i suppose you could grab some of thoes nuts with flanges on them so you dont need washers.
its a straight bolt. the only way you could make it more custom is if you omitted the threads partway up it and put a flange in the middle..
