can i make em fit?
i just got a set of long tube headers from a friend who got them from another friend who got them from a car he bought.... now their long tube headers for a 2nd gen as seen in this link FlowTech Headers: BIG-11100FLT - summitracing.com they appear to be the exact same looking.... is it possible to make them fit with a little bit of fab work? im not scared to cut or weld.. i'm just wondering if someone has done it yet already...

after some more searching they look disgustingly close to these Hooker Super Competition Headers: HOK-2138HKR - summitracing.com
well after more searching its not these.... summit just used a pic that looks like the ones i have....but i went to hooker site... and their not them....the 2138's curve to the outside of the car mine are just straight back....
so after even more searching... i think there these

i had the same problem, but with larger primaries. Mine were for a 2nd gen as well. I ended up nothching my cradle to try and make them fit. In the end I had to buy a new cradle (took out too much notching to even repait/enforce) and bought some shorties.

Yep, they fit...
I only paid $20 for mine
They make tons more low end power than my old shorties, changed the exhaust note a little deeper too

well i thought i'd post an update... i got both headers in the passenger side fits quite nicely but the driver side there is some issues.... the slave cylinder for my T5 wont fit because of one of the primaries is in the way... so what im going to do... is buy a 1 5/8" J bend off summit and redo that primary so there will be enough clearance for it to fit... from under there car if i route the primary for cylinder 1 beside cylinder 3 and then curve back into the collector it should give me the clearance i need for the slave and should still fit in the car!!! so far my expenses for the the project is aprox 30$
Gaskets= 10$
Header Bolts= 10$
02 Bung = 7$
MIG welder for 15 minutes = 5$
2nd Gen Headers = FREE!!!
Future Costs 1 5/8" J-bend = 15$
MIG welder = 20$ per hour (shouldnt need it for more then an hour)

ok so i cut up the header and welded it back together and it clears the slave perfectly now... no issues what so ever!....here are a couple pics
Original (forgot to take a picture so the red line shows the path that the old primary took)

Modified

so for now im running around open headers and it sounds BAD ***! i'll have a sound clip up tomorrow...but performance wise i havent really had the chance to really test it out... but traction in 1st gear is nearly impossible now on my street tires down at 25 PSI... but i got them to fit so i'm happy... overall it costed me about 60-70$ canadian for long tubes with my T5.... the next plan is to run a true dual 2.5" exhaust...
but tomorrow i shall post up sound clips

That looks great! I love custom stuff!
You might re-think the dual 2 1/2 system though. According to an old Custom Rodder article I read the dual 2 1/2 and single 3" system made the same power. That was on a 65 Buick though!
My only concern is that the floor is actually cut for our exhaust pipes on the passenger side. Are you gonna notch the floor like the passenger side or just leave them close to the ground? You may lose something if the left bank exhhaust gets smashed flat!
I want the headers like you have but I want to change them to put a bend in the primaries right before the collector so that I can hook up the Y-pipe.
Great job again!!

If I had long tubes, I would have savrificed ground clearance for true duals. But mines not a daily driver. But I also have shorties, so I went with single 3". If its a daily driver (sounds like it is), I would try and make single 3". Mine flows plenty, so it should def. flow enough for yours. Check out a post I started in thid forum about single 3" pics, Im thinkin there are others that have LTs with single exhaust.
