Magnaflow vs. TPI

is it really as bad of a combo as they say (sound-wise)? ive narrowed it down to the magnaflow or the flowmaster 40. it's not an f body installation so i've got plenty of room for the 40 series and true duals and ive got headers and a mild cam. So are the magnaflows that bad of a choice for a tpi, cuz i really like the sound of them on other cars ive heard and theres always the "I don't wanna sound like everyone else(flowmaster)" -factor. so.... flowmaster 40 or magnaflow??

p.s. I was looking at the catback exhaust sound clip/info page and the guy said that the magnaflow "undercuts tone". what exactly does undercut tone mean??

Re: Magnaflow vs. TPI

That's the first I've heard about Magnaflows being bad for TPI. Hope that's not true, as I have a LS1 catback on my GTA!

Re: Magnaflow vs. TPI

I've gone through three of four mufflers on my car before recently installing a magnaflow. I can now say I've finally found the sound I've been looking for...

Re: Magnaflow vs. TPI

I have a Magnaflow on mine that replaced a Flowmaster and I love the way it sounds. Much less of a "drone" on the highway. Another person I know just recently did the same switch and she loves the new sound better, too. Magnaflows sound great!

Re: Magnaflow vs. TPI

+1 for magnaflow. I have true duals on my IROC with 3" magnaflow mufflers and it sounds awesome. Its plenty quiet but still sounds good. I wont buy any other mufflers from now on. listen below

Re: Magnaflow vs. TPI

The guy I bought the GTA from, put this 4th gen Magnaflow cat-back system on. I prefer the Flowmaster 2 chamber sound, myself. I've thought of ditching this Magnaflow set up, but since it barely over a year old, I can't justify buying new exhaust.

Re: Magnaflow vs. TPI

I have a Magnaflow Muffler, 3" catback, and a magnaflow hi flow cat on my car and it sounds great. It's got a pretty deep, and throaty tone. You can barely hear it when your in the car, but it sounds nice from outside. Very classly.
