$$$ True dual exhaust $$$

I might be doing a true dual exhaust and I was wondering how much money would it cost to do this?

Quite a bit i imagine. Have you thought about the ground clearance issues, etc?
Be nice when done tho!

Re: $$$ True dual exhaust $$$

I just bought a formula that has true duals. The guy I got it from spent $600.00. He had Flowmaster 40 series mufflers run just behind the rear wheel wells. On the passenger side they cut out the spare tire area to have a place to tuck the muffler in. So now I have to cover that up with sheet metal.

Re: $$$ True dual exhaust $$$

Cost depends on whether you want it to cross over the rear axle...do you want simple turn downs...do you want it to exit out the sides, before the rear tires?

Lots of variables.

Re: $$$ True dual exhaust $$$

i think i spent $375 total not counting my time to weld it all up and mocking it up. from the headman S-pipes to the summit brand h-pipe to some 2.5" piping I had laying around to the moroso spiralflows and then 90' mandrel bends that point out in front of each rear tire. I might be selling this whole system this fall if you'd be interested, setup would have 300 miles on it total by then and I'm 45 minutes from you. This is for headmann long tube headers.

Re: $$$ True dual exhaust $$$

got my true duals made at midas.. 2.5" pipe, no x/h pipe, go straight down and turn out before the rear tires.. "mufflers" were $85 a piece and $190 for getting it made.. sooo, $360..

Well I know I would like it to go over the axles and exit out the rear. I am going to stop by my mechanics to see what he thinks and what he will charge. What ever I decide to do I am going to be using the new super 44 mufflers, I think they sound pretty good.

Getting dual pipes over the axle, is not easy. Most shops will tell you, it can't even be done, but it can...if you are patient, meticulous, and stubborn with it.

Re: $$$ True dual exhaust $$$

if you're going over the axle just put in a mufflex setup, it'll flow more than enough and you won't have the hassle of putting 2 pipes where there's realistically only room for one.

we spent 3g's but its 304 stainless 1g for the headers 1g for the bassanie true dule 2.5" catback w x-pipe for an ls1 car and 1g to have it all fabricated also 300 on cats. But thats over the axel and it sounds great and flows like hell look at mufflex 4" for pic's of the system we did

Re: $$$ True dual exhaust $$$

Stephen, you are right about most shops saying it cant be done, i bought all my stuff, mufflers and cats to the shop and they were like we cant put true duals on here, not enough room and i was like what do you mean, ive seen it done and they were like no we cant do it. i was pissed because i had to return it all and get a single muffler kit with the dual outlet set up. i would have done it myself but dont have a welder not the time to play with it

Yep. About the only way to convince a shop that says it can't be done, is to bring them pics, or take your business elsewhere.

But, a Mufflex 4" single pipe system, will equal the dual exhaust flow anyways, so I don't see the purpose behind the extra cost & trouble, of an over-the-axle dual pipe system.

Re: $$$ True dual exhaust $$$

Lots of variables as was mentioned...full exhaust over the axle or dumped before, all stainless steel or not, X-pipe, what kind of mufflers, what kind of tips etc...
With mufflers, tips, Hooker LT's, X-pipe, all stainless 3" mandrel bent dual over the axle out back I spent over $1500....which was very reasonable I thought...I got a DEAL on the custom mandrel bent tubing install and fab. work.
