Exhaust Shop Says It's Impossible
Hey,
I wanted to get a set of cut-outs installed on my car so I took it to a reputable exhaust shop and they said that i don't have the space to install them. I just wanted a second opinion from you guys. Here are some pics. The setup is a true dual 2.5 inch setup with a magnaflow muffler at the back. The pipes run together all the way down.
This one is where it comes from the header. I was thinking I could get it put
here.

This is where the pipe bends and goes into the tranny tunnel.

I was told the only way i can get cutouts installed is if i had pipes going on each side of the car.
If I could get some opinions that would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Chris

Re: Exhaust Shop Says It's Impossible
it could be done but with the exhuast running so close to each other you would have to have the coutouts pointing out each side... looks like there is room but u cant really tell from the pictures. id try a different shop.
Re: Exhaust Shop Says It's Impossible
It looks like it can be done. but like maroon88 said..they would have to be right next to one another and point opposite of each other. I know cutouts can be done as i have done them on a stock y pipe camaro. but they do run very close to the ground.

Yeah the pictures aren't the best but the only ones i got. These pipes already run pretty close to the ground. Is there a way I can run a pipe that connects both duals to form 1 cutout?

cutouts could be placed way up the exhaust near the collectors, those pics are halfway down the car

Re: Exhaust Shop Says It's Impossible
so you have true duals and are running shorties? Put a set of longtubes on there
As for your question, any section of pipe that is straight with no bends for 4-5" could be cut out and have cutouts welded in. Heck around here we sometimes just use a hole saw and drill out a hole in the pipe and weld on a cutout with a flange we cut out of 16 guage steel with wingnuts.

also when you get the cutouts welded on there, have the guy spot weld the bolts on the backside so they will act like studs... then you only have to screw the wingnut on. makes everything SO much easier and you will thank me in the end.
