Budget = headmans only diff is hookers are 1 3/4 primary and headman are 1 5/8 primary for most street aplicatons the 1 5/8 will be great.

Here is what MW66NOVA said...
the only thing that you may have a problem is the lower control arm in
the front hits the header primaries and i want to say #3 primary hits
the cross member. solution: make a small dent in #3 primary to clear
crossmember, take hack saw to lower control arm perch. really easy and
the install from the top (mine did anyhow). if you can weld, or know
someone who can, you can fab up a y-pipe in no time

Re: long tubes *budget*

I went with hedmans. You have to do some massaging and creative work-arounds but it's nothing any worse than Hookers (See the sticky for the 20 something long list of things you have to do....)

You can see here how close the primary gets to the k-member.

And here you can see how close the collector gets to the A-arm perch in question.

Re: long tubes *budget*

thanks for the pics guys... so if i work those few areas to clear, i can have a decent set of long tubes for about 150, and i have an exhaust shop ready to do me a full header back true dual exhaust for about 200 bucks, thats for aluminized steel, but for that price, if it rusts thought, ill have him put another on
so does that sound like a fair price?
anyone found the hedmans for cheaper than summit at about 150?

You can try ebay. However I think the Hedman Longtubes are a good deal and alot of members here are running them. I think even wtih my power I might still go with the 1 5/8 LT's.

Re: long tubes *budget*

I had the hedman long tubes in my 89 and my 87, the 89 I put a carbd 355 in with poly motor mounts, so the headers went in completly painless (at the same time the motor went in), the 87 however was stock, and the motor mounts were old and worn out, so I ended up having to lift the motor up a little to squeeze them in, but with a little bit of work, they went in relativly easy. Next thirdgen I get is definatly getting them too!
