Re: dumps before the axle?

i can't speak from experience...you may notice a difference, but i highly suggest checking local laws...i've heard stories of spending a couple hundred on a dump before the wheel setup and then they had to have it re-done propoerly to pass inspection. Just a heads up.

Re: dumps before the axle?

Mine dump before the rear axle

Ive never had a problem with fumes

If you have rust issues, you may want to reconsider thou

Also, if you do this, aim the dump at the ground. If you leave it strait the interior of the car will resonate and it will sound incredibly loud and unpleasant

Re: dumps before the axle?

Hell my system wasnt even completely welded for a while on my car and I never had any problems with fumes at all. I mean I guess if you sit inside a garage with the exhaust facing towards the wall it might be a problem, but that's not any different than any other exhaust.

There's lots of drawbacks to dual exhausts, but fumes definitely werent one of them for me.

Re: dumps before the axle?

Fumes are a drawback if you are running a carb car with a big cam and have to have the idle a little fat. I wouldn't do dumps again on a really big cam'd car and would run them out the back instead.

Re: dumps before the axle?

I've heard people that have developed severe rust issues aft of the dumps, over a period of time.

Mines been there for almost a year and a half daily driven

No rust

What would make you think it would cause that?

I would think aiming at the ground, would INCREASE the noise, being confined under the car.

Rather than shooting it off to the side or straight back, which I think would be quieter inside the car.

Re: dumps before the axle?

I ran it strait out of the cherry bomb for about a month, sounded horrible

Went back and had a turn down made. Lots quieter inside

Well, when anything is burned a large amount of steam is created, plus the large amount of heat dumped under the car will also extremely accelerate the corrosion caused from the steam that gets into every crevice of the underbody. Don't take my word for it, i'm just telling you what i've heard.
