Muffler whoa's
ok guys, some of you may already know a little about what i do with my car.. well now i have found this nice app. called engine analyzer pro. well i put my car's setup on there and found out that my CFM rating on my exhaust was low flowmasters 80 series is like 320 I want something a lot higher than that.. I am slowing my car down alot.. with 600 ill put 400+ to the crank. so i guess here is my question. I am trying to find a muffler for my car that will give me around 650 CFM rating, i need it to be a single in Dual out 3inch in / 3inch out
I dont care how loud it is. I just need power... i was looking at the Warlock but its only single in single out. next was magna flow... but im not sure which route i should take... you guys have any suggestions?
ps i ran into this...

Well, I dont see how no mufflers can be at the bottom of the list... straight pipes, dumped before the axle, would obviously be the best.

Re: Muffler whoa's
yeah that he said. i would think no mufflers is better then a muffler in performence wise. its just mega loud.
i dont trust in computer programs that much. i just use them as a bit of a reference and whatnot. i dont believe they are 100% on the money eather.

I don't think his list came from a computer program, it came from a real world test in a mustang shootout. Haven't you guys seen this list before? It's been all over the net for years

No mufflers on a stock car probably lost HP because the stock fuel trim went lean and could not keep up. Makes perfect sense

No mufflers in that test meant headers uncorked at the collector. If they had put a collector extension on, power would have picked back up - like what happened with the Warlocks uncorked.

Well I can say this.....there are hardly any other third gen f body's around my town that sound like me and my magnaflow muffler 3"in and dual 2.5" out....I know you said 3" in and 3" dual out but I believe Magnaflow does make that muffler...I wasnt too worried about it when I picked it up

All tests via an independent lab
All tests @ 15” wc
2 “ Straight Pipe 283 CFM
2 ¼ “ Straight Pipe 365 CFM
2 ½ “ Straight Pipe 521 CFM
2 ¼” Typical Bent tailpipe 268 CFM
2 ½” Typical Bent Tailpipe 417 CFM
2 ¼” Inlet/Outlet_ Glass Pack Tips- No Louvers- Smooth 274 CFM
2 ¼” Inlet/Outlet- Glass Pack Tips-Louvered 133 CFM
Same as above set for reverse flow 141 CFM
2 ¼” Cherry Bomb 239 CFM
2 ½” Cherry Bomb 294 CFM
2 ½” Inlet/Outlet Dynomax Super Turbo 278 CFM
2 ½” Inlet/Outlet Ultraflow Bullet 512 CFM
2 ½” Inlet/Outlet Gibson Superflow 267 CFM
2 ½” Inlet/Outlet Flowmaster ( 2 Chamber) 249 CFM
2 ½” Inlet Outlet Flowmaster ( 3 Chamber) 229 CFM
2 ¼” Inlet/Outlet Thrush CVX 260 CFM
2 ½” Inlet/Outlet Maremount Cherry Bomb 298 CFM
2 ½” Inlet/Outlet Hooker Aero Chamber 324 CFM
2 ½” Inlet/Outlet Hooker Max Flow 521 CFM
2 ½” Inlet/Outlet Borla Turbo 373 CFM
2 1/2" Inlet/Outlet Magnaflow 284 CFM
Standard OEM 2 ¼” Inlet/Outlet 138-152 CFM
Standard OEM 2 ½” Inlet/Outlet 161-197 CFM
I found this on a LS1 site that got it off a chevy truck site....granted these are only 2.5" mufflers, but they can point you in the right direcetion of what flows better than the other
happy hunting

I've seen that many many times, but what I dont understand is, on the flow chart, the Magnaflow doesnt flow as well as the Hooker Aerochamber but on the dyno the mufflers were within .7 horsepower and 2 ft/lbs of torque
negligible power difference in the horsepower test

Re: Muffler whoa's
try the demo version of it out like i have and then you tell me what you think of it. the program is only as good as the user. if you input all the numbers its asks for then you will get the results you want... if you like it buy it
its worth it or download the demo and find away to keep it

86_z29kid, what is your engine combo? I would think a mild 383 would put out at least 450 to the crank....by no means am I trying to talk trash or anything

Re: Muffler whoa's
im not too worried to the power at the crank its about the power to wheel im lookin at... right now its gotta be close to 350 ish to the wheels but i have not dyno'd this engine... only my old 350/30 which put out 200 to the wheels and 300 torque and thanks..

Right now nothing
I broke my 4th transmission(the raptor) and the best dyno I got with a stock transmission that was slipping beyond belief with stock torque converter was 335/350. For the combo I have it should be around 370-390/400ish. I will post up new dyno once Performabuilt transmission is in.
