Spark plug changes
I have a 88 IROC with a 305 in it. It has Edelbrock headers. Some of the plugs are blocked by the header tubes. Is there a way to get the plugs out without removing the header?.............Do any of the header bolts go into a water jacket?
Thanks
Mike

Re: Spark plug changes
i have the edelbrock headers and dont use water jackets....however i get to some of the spark plugs by ussing a wrench loosening them up and then taking them off by hand
Re: Spark plug changes
try from underneath. Use s spark plug socket with a wrench, alternate with ratchet. Cuss a little. Then maybe if you have to cut the socket down for more clearance, so the plug can slide through, and use a wrench on it somemore. Then when they are done, drink.

Had the same problem, Jack that bad boy up and go from the bottom, it should give you a clear shot at the rest of the plugs

Hmm...looks easy enough to make out of a standard spark plug socket. Just 10minutes or so at the grinding wheel, if you dont mind modifying tools that is. That might help with my number 8 plug that I still havent changed, lol.

Re: Spark plug changes
yeah, its a pretty simple tool. What they did is take the standard spark plug socket and shortened and drilled out the "socket" part so the plug will fit all the way through. If I had the macheniery, I would have done it on my own, but its ok, its only $13 with ship. I think the "special" SLP version is like $45 from Jegs/Summit?
