3" exhaust too big?

I'm buying a 350 block from a guy at work and having it rebuilt. I just bought a set of headers off of a member here with 3" collectors, and I was thinking about doing 3" exhaust from the headers back. Is that too big or should I just go with 2.5"? My problem is, since these headers have 3" collectors, how would I go about doing that with 2.5" y-pipes?

well it depends. what kind of rebuild? if stock or close to it, 2.5 would be better. if its a crazy wild 600hp n/a 350cid, then 3 is more the way to go

It's going to be closer to stock. Just have it bored, probably some higher performance heads, cam, intake, just basic ****.

And I'm probably only going to do single but have dual tips in the back.

Re: 3" exhaust too big?

just wondering why would you put a nice exhust system on your car and bolt them up to those power robbing stock manifolds you can get a decent set of headman headers for around 80
