side exhaust

I'm gettin a 1984 camaro with a stock 305 and plan to build a 350 mildly and drop in. I would like to do a side exit in front of the rear tires exhaust. If anyone has any pictures of one post them. And what muffler would you run.

Re: side exhaust

I'm planning on doing something like that this summer to my 85. I'll post pictures when it's done. It won't be for like a month or two though

Re: side exhaust

my friend with an 86 camaro has side pipes with z28 tips. they look extreme and nice as hell but 3rd gens wernt really made for "true duel" exhaust. therefore, he rubs on every bump. like it said, it looks really nice but i dont think its worth it. i was going to get them but after hearing his experiences i changes my mind. he also had moroso spiral mufflers.
so unless your gana do a 2 or 3 inch lift from the rear, dont get them.

Re: side exhaust

I have the spiral flows on my 350 right now, and its REALLY loud, not open headers obviously but its not streetable in MA. Granted, I dont have tail pipes on it yet, but should I expect it to quiet down when I get around to running tail pipes to the sides or the back?

lol its not going to get any quieter trust me. It might just sound quieter if the exiting to the back of the because of the exhaust location. If you want to quiet it down put a high flow cat on it. Thats really the only way.I have mine exit before the rear tires and my friends can here me coming from a couple miles away.

Just throw some high flow cats on it and you might have a chance. Puting a total of 4 mufflers on the car is just a waste of time, money and weight.

Re: side exhaust

I dont really have the room to throw 2 cats on, unless its after the mufflers, which I dont think would work, would it?

Re: side exhaust

as much as I hate to do it, Ive ordered 2 cats, magnaflow, and just replacing them with the mufflers and then run the mufflers next to the drive shaft. this exhaust is making me really pick my brain a bit, especially with dual 3 inch pipes side by side lol
