Re: Non-conventional Exhaust/Header combo

Nice car goalie!!
I'm thinking of buying the Ram Air hood.
Did it come with the car or did you install it...and if you did the install how difficult was it?
Thanks

Re: Non-conventional Exhaust/Header combo

The installation was done by me and my uncle when we painted her. It was a pain in the ***. You also got to make sure it extends far enough down to the nose so the bolts just under the hood don't get full of water and rust, which happened to me. You may need to add something to cover those bolts if the hood is fitted down as far as possible and doesn't fit snug.

Re: Non-conventional Exhaust/Header combo

Thanks, I think I'm gonna go with the Ram Air hood with the open vents and optional air intake (sits right in the front like the Camaro's).

The y-pipe looks restrictive.
Here's a picture of the Y-pipe Dyno-Don makes to go with his headers.

He doesn't have a web site. I'm lucky because I live close to his shop. He does take orders from all over though. You can send him a PM.

Here is his address:

Don Lorentzen
1030 W. Hoover Ave.
Orange, CA 92867
(714) 633-5168
Engine rebuilding, Trans rebuilding, Subframe Connector welding, Exhaust specialist, Rear end specialist, Custom chips, Carb/TBI/TPI.

Here 2 more pictures of his work. They are the best headers for our cars in my opinion.

I found a site on the net that opens the vents on the Ram Air hood (same as yours) paints them the same color as your car and ships them out (kind of expensive though with the filter and box it"s around $1,500.00.
The site is (Ram Air Hood.com)...check it out.
