Torq specs for headers

I'm installing headers next week and can't find anything on torq specs...anyone know what it would be for Hooker headers?

Re: Torq specs for headers

Its 26 lb ft for stock manifolds....No reason to think that it isn't the same for headers

as tight as frickin' possible with the pattern going from inside bolts outward...seriously...cause they'll still rattle their way loose.

i agree, forget torque specs, u want those buggers to be on there [edited by Kevin91Z]. eventually they do work themselves loose unless you use those stage 8 non loosening fasteners. theyre kinda pricey for bolts but yeah just get them on really tight, theres nothing worse than having a nice ride and a horrible farting sound coming from your engine

That was a little bit much, don't you think?

But they're all right. Make those things as tight as possible, and then re-tighten them again after driving for like 30 minutes to an hour. Keep checking them and tightening them for about a week after installing.

All my emission equipment is gone, no cat (not mandatory here), I"m installing ceramic coated Hooker 2460's with modified Y-pipe also installing Magna Flow 3" catback part #16829.Just to be sure the bolts do not work themselves loose I ordered a box of Stage 8 bolts.

Thanks for the replies

Re: Torq specs for headers

honestly, the stage 8's work themselves loose overtime as well. they were already on my firebird's 2460's when i got the car...couldn't stand how hard they were to work with...off they came in favor of some cheapy header bolts that came with a set of hedmans...much happier with them and i can actually get to them and tighten them now.

Re: Torq specs for headers

Would it be ok to use loc-tite on header bolts or would the heat make it useless?

It wouldn't hurt anything, but it wouldn't help anything, either. The heat would make it useless.

Since your emissions is gone have you thrown any codes? Or notice your engine running lean? Post up a sound clip if you can. Im lookin for a good sounding exhaust with or without imissions. Sorry im kind of hijacking i guess.

I removed the emission system last year and have not thrown any codes.I will be installing the headers and catback the last week of Oct (vacation working on and under the car - does it get any better)!
As for a sound clip it might be kind of hard as I do not own a vidcam but will try to borrow one and post.
