Headers question

i was thinking about buying headers for my 305 and getting a cat back back on it... but i was going to build a 383 engine... so would headers for a 305 work for a 350 engine?

Re: Headers question

That question is a bit too vague. It all depends on what heads you go with on the 383, but I believe the exhaust ports between 305 and 350 were quite standard, so I wouldn't think you'd have too much of a problem. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Headers question

I put Edelbrock stainless headers on my car (around 550 dollars) and they will work for either the 305 or 350 so you won't have to worry about that. They look nice and not to hard to install, will have to relocate the dipstick though, and your factory wires will rub unless you change them.

Re: Headers question

Like I said, I believe the exhaust ports on the 305 heads are similar to those on the 350 and you should not encounter any problems unless the header manufacturer lists specifically that it only fits one or the other (which I can't imagine why they would design them like that).

Re: Headers question

the exhaust ports are the same on all sbc heads unless you buy something special like Buick style heads with sbc bolt pattern.
also I just put hooker 2055s on my 91 and the fit was great and it hooked right up to my American thunder exhaust that was already on the car

well, what do you want to do with the car? Drag race it, or just take it grocery shopping on Sundays? It's your money, your car, your call.
