Re: Cost of Custom Headers?

you're asking if custom headers will cost more than custom headers?

Re: Cost of Custom Headers?

I am not sure of the price of 455 pontiac headers, but when I went to ask about getting a custom set made for my car most shops did not really want to mess with it, The shops I went to built custom headers and race car chassis, and most of the custom headers were put on tube chassis cars with room to spare, so the shops were not real interested in working with my cramped engine compartment, so you might have to spend quite a lot of money getting yours made.

Re: Cost of Custom Headers?

thank you! basically i was just looking for a price. do you think it would be worth it to have custom headers made or to buy manifolds? What are the advantages/disadvantages of headers and manifolds?

Re: Cost of Custom Headers?

Headers are a very popular mod, and for good reason, by themselves on a stock motor you will not notice a huge improvement, but once you put on a good intake and a decent cam you will need them. Thats not to say that you can not have a decent motor with manifolds, but you will sacrifice some power.

Whether or not I would invest in an expensive set of custom headers or not would depend. If you are building a street strip motor with a street cam and dual plane intake manifold, I would probably just use a good set of manifolds, you may be giving up a little power, but for the 1000 dollars you save you can spend it somewhere else and get WAY more bang for the buck. But if it is a race inspired motor with a large cam, high compression, ect. then you basically have to pony up for the headers.
