Doug's Headers
Anybody used Doug's Longtubes p/n D3321? These look similar to the Hooker Super Comps, but the flange is thicker, and they are a buch cheaper. Also, it says they work with angled plug heads, can anybody confirm that? Will they clear a t-56? Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Doug's Headers
I have a set that should be going on my car soon. I've had some experience with third gen headers but lots with 4th gen headers and I have to say that these are the nicest I have seen. The coating on them is fantastic compared to anything I have seen. No clue on fitment yet since they aren't in.
One thing I am doing is cutting the 3 bolt flanges off and welding some OBX Racing v band flanges on instead. I cannot stand any of the 3 bolt flanges on any headers. Plus it will make installing and removing the y-pipe MUCH easier.
If you are ordering them, I would suggest getting the flowmaster merge as well. Will make building a y-pipe MUCH easier and will be the best option IMO.

Re: Doug's Headers
I have a set, they do not work well with Edelbrock ETec 200 heads plug locations, and on my low GTA with 45-series tires, I've bashed the bottoms of the collectors pretty badly, but as I said, this car is low.
I think the problem is that there are about 6 different locations and angles of plugs between the angle plug heads and the Vortec-style (like mine). I had problems with plug boots burning on my Hooker shorties as well, so it's not the fault of the headers.
But yes, excellent quality and thickness of tubes/flanges, and the same person who designed these headers for Hooker now works for Dougs, so you can be pretty much assured they are quite similar in everything but price.

I have a set on mine with brodix angle plug heads and have plenty of clearance, but you will have to follow in L/T install in the sticky because you wil have to clearance the A-Arms and possibly the a-arm mount on the passengers side. On the driver's side, minor clearancing if any if needed.

Re: Doug's Headers
if these headers are so similar to the hooker 2210's, will the muflex y pipe that is made for the 2210's work with these?

Are you running solid motor mounts?

Re: Doug's Headers
I'm running a set of Dougs's on a set of AFR angle plug heads. Car is lowered an inch. Ground clearance is minimal, around 2.5-3 inches at the lowest point. Also running 3 inch from the collectors to an x-pipe to 2 magnaflow mufflers dumping by the axle. Will try to get some pice up. BTW the car sounds awesome with the 3 inch x-pipe and magnaflows! BTW, T-56 with Skulte x-member.

Re: Doug's Headers
For the people that own these, are the reducers they come with 2.5" or 3"? I'm ordering these headers tomorrow and didnt know if I needed to order reducers or not since I'm running 2.5" exhaust.

Re: Doug's Headers
If you ran a pipe straight back off of the headers, it would hit the spohn crossmember because of how far the crossmember hangs down. You would need a pipe with an S-shaped bend to drop the exhaust pipe down to clear that crossmember, and then its even worse for ground clearance..

Re: Doug's Headers
I just installed these headers. They fit very nice !!! Angle lug heads work but you need to use a short plug. I ended up using Accels, because the tip unscrews. Which made it easier to install. The colloctors that are give are 2 1/2 outlet. They also give you nice gaskets for the head and collector flanges, and all the bolts, too !!
The only clearance issue I had was on the passenger side rear control arm mount. Other than that, I am very happy with them !!

Re: Doug's Headers
My Doug's didn't fit well with these NGK copper spark plugs, and the heads are the Edelbrock E-street. #7 spark plug is currently giving me MAJOR issues. Boot burned right through and I haven't even taken the car on the road yet! I have wrapped the headers which would add a bit more thickness, but shouldn't make or break spark plug boot fitment. I took the boot off and wrapped the end of the wire in electrical tape and it started arcing off the header really bad to the point where the SBC runs like crap... open to suggestions because I am pretty stumped right now...
