Notching the frame rails for exhuast
Tell me what you guys think of cutting up into the frame rails like 2" by the trans
then boxing it in with 1/8" mild steel plates and connecting the sub-frame connectors to the plates. The 6pt cage will also be tied into the sfc.

With SFCs, a cage & boxing it all back in, you'll likely be OK, if you don't cut TOO MUCH out. I know at least one guy here on TGO, notched his where they turn inwards for clearance off the exhaust coming off the long tube headers.
Where were you planning on cutting?

ive always wanted to see somebody do it the way i been thinkin. if your gonna put an exhaust in and your worried bout clearance (all of us!) then why not rip the interior out, and cut out where the ehaust will run. okay hear me out, say you wanna 3 inch exhaust and your car is already lowered. figure out where you want to run your exhaust, get some 3.5" ID tubing and cut 12" lenghts at a time to insure you dont buckle your car. cut the 3.5" tubing right down the middle and weld it in. then run your 3" od exhaust in those tunnels. i wouldnt do it unless i put in a cage or at least 8 point roll bar,but youd only have bout 1.5" hanging below the car.
im doing it to my car someday after i drop this new motor in with full length headers.

Re: Notching the frame rails for exhuast
Look up my Ed Quay header install in the exhaust section. I cut out the original trans mount and built a double hump x member to fit true dual exhaust with no bends. The thread has pics also. Since then, I have redesigned my whole configuration. I used round tubing now and connected off the subframe to the rear seat pans for the trans x member mounting.
