Sinister 4"

Has anybody seen this kit yet or used it? Seems like the Mufflex minus the muffler. Uses the 4th gen 3" y-pipe outlet at this catbacks inlet but it can be cut off. Just add muffler of your choice and your ready to go.

If it's just the parts shown on the pic. then $399,- is WÁY too much!
I built an entirely new 3 inch exhaust , from between de headers and exhaust tip for just €250,- !!!
Stainless steel that is

Yes but that is 3" though. Nobody but mufflex ofers a 4" kit with a muffler for less than $550-ish.

that not a bad deal, grab a good 4" muffler, about a 150bux, and its still cheaper than mufflex

You need to look at the prices for 4 inch stuff. Just parts alone for mine it's going to be at least $350.

Yeah, thats a pretty good price. Cheaper than the mufflex stuff now and even if you wanted to make it yourself, I doubt your going to do much better cost wise. I mean your getting a 4" system, mandrel bent and ready to install.

How do they get a 4 inch pipe above teh panhard bar mount? I've got a 3.5 inch pipe there and it still needed to be BFH'd to fit.

I really like the 4" kit I purchased from Mufflex.

Can you get a pic of it going over the panhard bar mount? Like I said, there's just no room there for a 4 inch pipe... Im curious to see what they did.

Looks like the system comes with a bullet muffler.

Anyone here used this kit?

Judging by the pic's it looks exactly like my mufflex 4" kit minus the muffler.

Re: Sinister 4"

Well since you already have an aftermarket lower panhard bar, that upper stamped piece is a "look left, throw right" item. There would be your extra clearance. You have to remove that to get the mufflex to fit too.

The mufflex 4" system will fit with that bar in place.

Anyone ever come up with a picture of this crossing the panhard bar support brace? I'm wanting to put the Sinister 4" system on my 84.

Re: Sinister 4"

I've built a 4" for my car and you can get 4" to clear the panhard bar brace. I've since then took that brace out and noticed no problems with the car.

4" Ultraflo by dynomax I have used and also the Dynatech Split flo / borla XR1 clone muffler. Both are very loud on a 11 to 1 compression 11 second 383 motor I had but quiet on my 401 turbo motor. Turbos tame the exhaust down alot.

Not a bad price for a 4" kit without a muffler if it fits nicely.

It is very pricey for that amount, unless its stainless then its abit more worth it but still kinda pricey for what you get. Still cheaper than Mufflex stuff with a muffler.

Considering it's mandrel bent 4" exhaust and no one around me does mandrel bent, it's worth it to me.

Re: Sinister 4"

You can buy the bends from Summit or other places and fab your own system. You probably wont have anywhere near that much in the piping but factor in fabrication time and weld time and it all starts to add up. I think I made my 4" "catback" which was from y pipe back for less than 200 bucks in parts. Only need like 5 J bends and you should have enough to complete it all and J bends are usually 30 or less dollars per bend depending. I know I can get good bends out of stainless for around 25-30 a bend from a local shop.

If you cant fab it yourself, and its really not all that difficult, then 400 for that kit isnt horrible. Pricey yes, but unbearable no.

Re: Sinister 4"

I just don't have the time to do it myself. I work out of town so it's worth the $400 to me to save the time I'm at home. I do need a 2.5" dual inlet 4" single outlet T if anyone knows where to get one. I don't need stainless, just a decent T.

I'll tell you in a month how it fits

Re: Sinister 4"

quick pic of my 4" over axle and upper panhard bar support thing. Thats a flowmaster y 4" to dual 3". I flipped it and used it to make a splitter over the axle to maintain dual outlets since I didnt want to use a spintech muffler. So there is plenty of room to get 4" over

Custom of course, I used a bunch of flowmaster S-bends and dual 3" to a 4" Y collector.

Mufflex sells a 3 to 4" ypipe for their catback system which also should fit this sinister one.

Re: Sinister 4"

Here are pics from my set-up
I got the sinister kit with a flowmaster from summit (it was a little cheaper this way)

I had to buy two 45 degree 4" pipes to complete it.
I have a custom 3" y-pipe to a single 4" to the back with single outlet

My 4" fit fine over the panhard brace. I went the cheap route. 4" piping, bunch of 90* bends, hangers, 4" clamps, used muffler, and a turn down that came with muffler. I think I figured up I have $180 in the everything after the Mufflex y-pipe.

I read that this exhaust isnt meant to be used with less than 400 HP is this true will you use a lot of back pressure with this system on a stock L98?

ok but im wondering if having this bigger pipe will cause the car to be more sluggish when give it gas from a stop due to the stock power of the L98, i noticed it doesnt feel like my car has torque when i have my cutout open thats located right after the y-pipe and before the cat
