Rear Bumper Cutout?
Alright, so I plan to have magnaflow exhaust put on but i dont like the way it comes out underneath the rear bumper. Does anyone have some ideas? I also thought about making a cutout on the rear bumper for the exhaust to come out of. An example would be the mustang gt rear bumper. That is how i think i want it done but not sure how it would look on a camaro. Any help is greatly appreciated! And you may also let me know what your opinion on magnaflow is.
Thanks, Ty

Re: Rear Bumper Cutout?
to do that you would have to make a really tight turn upwards then back an make the hole through the actually steel bumper than the plastic bumper cover. Not the easiest thing to do. If you stick your head under the back of the car you will see why

Re: Rear Bumper Cutout?
Yeah, i seen that earlier when i got home from school. I'm going to look around town and see if any of the body shops will do the cut out. It wont involve a lot of cutting but some. I also thought that the steel could maybe be heated and bent up or just hammered up so that the exhaust would fit up in it? I just want a semi circle cut out so it doesn't hang below the bumper like most.

Re: Rear Bumper Cutout?
no heating or hammering is going to move the bumper without destroying it. You have ot cut a hole through that, and the egg crate bumper reinforcement, and the bumper cover.

Re: Rear Bumper Cutout?
have you seen Willie's exhaust? He's a mod here but your idea made me think of this. the 4th gen tips and and minor cutting to the rear pumper really pulled the system up close and I presume he was able to avoid going through the steel bumper
just caught the hammering joke. priceless

Re: Rear Bumper Cutout?
They are talking about cutting out notches for the exhaust tips to exit more up into the bumper & not just hang underneath.
Exhaust cutouts in the pipe to bypass a muffler, are completely different.
Which kind are you asking about?

Re: Rear Bumper Cutout?
Need an opinion... What size tip should i get. I'm thinking a 3 inch tip. I talked to the guy today and he said that he can make it work. It will come out half on the bumper and half below it. I think it will look nice i just have to get it done and a picture taken.

Re: Rear Bumper Cutout?
don't get a ridiculously big tip. my car has 4" tips and i'm half temped to just cut my exhaust where they're welded on. not to mention one of them goes past the bumper about an inch while the other one is recessed. they make me so angry
sorry I'm done

Re: Rear Bumper Cutout?
Ha dont worry about it! I'm going to go with a 3" tip but i might actually try to do a corvette style tip and put the quad tips in the center of the bumper. Me and a friend have been trying to figure it out and i can put it anywhere but its just a matter of $ and how i want it to look. I cant believe that your tips are so staggered. have they always been like that or did it just change overtime?
Re: Rear Bumper Cutout?
dont know if uve went threw with this idea or not but just me i wouldnt do the quad tip idea it just doesnt seem very 3rd gen to me ive seen a few ppl around my way that have done it and i just say tacky and i think the 3 inch tip wouldnt look rite unless u run a 3 inch full exhaust or sumthin it would looked rushed and cheap not talkin any trash about ur ride im just sayin what i think about it all we really need from time to time is another opinion lol

Re: Rear Bumper Cutout?
Ok, i was actually thinkin the same thing and i have been shoping around and found the muffler for $100 but im still trying different styles of tips and what not. ******* exhaust is actaully how im going to do it from the measurements i have taken and what the shops will do around here. The only thing different from ******* exhaust will be the placement of the tips. If i do this the bottom of the tip will be flush with the bottom of the bumper. There is about 2-3 inches virtically that i can cut out of the bumper to fit the tips in.

Re: Rear Bumper Cutout?
I like it! I was imaging something diffrent but how you did it looks good, but arent you choking up ALOT of gas flow with the tips? you could maybe put an cutout either in the usual location or maybe before the bends for your tips and all cut open the exhuast and put an turn down or somthing there, just an idea for better flow but still NICE!

Re: Rear Bumper Cutout?
He's probably talking about the exhaust coming out & burning the bumper if it is too close or the exhaust fumes circulating back into the car. Mine never gets inside as well as 90% of cars don't. Trucks are worse about that happening in the bed, than most cars.

Re: Rear Bumper Cutout?
Looks good, sounds good. By the way I cut mine way back so you could not see it as much and have no problems with exhaust getting into the car.

Re: Rear Bumper Cutout?
ok yea i dont have a problem with the exhaust backup or anything like that. as for burning the bumper i did burn a little in the left corner but thats from going 20 miles at 130+mph becuase i was late. otherwise i haven't had a problem. My sister hates it cuz she burnt her leg on it! that made me laugh real hard!

Re: Rear Bumper Cutout?
it just seems as those 4th gen style tips would flow less then regular oval tips would, it looks like those tips, say if they were somehow heated and bend to an oval shape may equal 2, possibly 2.25 inches at the most.
