Re: removing cat?

Possibly. And it would be tampering with Federal Emissions on a street car. If it is bad? Get a high flow cat, but don't take off a good cat.

You will get a SES light and lot of problems. Don't mess with something you know nothing about.

Re: removing cat?

You are not going to get a SES light. It's not going to give you a lot of problems if you do. As stated above, it is illegal to do. It also will make your exhaust much "stronger" smelling.

Correct. There aren't any rear 02 sensors on these cars to detect cat temperature, which is what would trip an code on a modern car. Ditto on the emissions. Modern cats do not rob power. Improper exhaust size does.

Re: removing cat?

My cats are hollow. They look like cats, but are empty. I have no problems with performance, or or lights coming on, but I probably have a strong exhaust smell. I am going to get around to putting high flow cats on them. I grew up when catalytic converter wasn't even a word, so you probably know what my gut feeling is about the EPA.

x2. You're better off leaving it in unless it's bad, then you may as well get a high flow... but if you have a sniffer test in your state it may not pass emissions.
