Headers for 1992 LT1

Im wondering what i have to do to install a good set of performance headers on my LT1 383 Build since its going into a 92 body. ive been told that with this engine going into that body i will need to have custom built headers And Y pipes made, can anyone tell me if there is any truth to this? anyone ever done it that has some real life input on the matter?

The ones I make will work if you don't need smog gear.

Re: Headers for 1992 LT1

you shouldn't need anything custom; the lt1 uses the same port spacing and bolt pattern as the standard SBC, so anything that works for the 305/350 will fit. dyno don does make some very nice looking pieces...

Re: Headers for 1992 LT1

On the other hand would the use of a SBC header cause an issue if used on D port heads if the primaries were large enough to not cut off some of the port?
